Cameron Monaghan Rumored For Live-Action Series Focusing On STAR WARS JEDI: FALLEN ORDER's Cal Kestis

Is Disney/Lucasfilm planning a live-action series focusing on the adventures of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order fan-favourite Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan)? That's the rumor currently doing the rounds...

Cameron Monaghan lent his voice and likeness to Cal Kestis in the best-selling Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game and its upcoming sequel, Survivor, and Star Wars fans have been hoping to see him reprise the role in live-action one day.

Now, a new rumor is claiming that the actor is being lined up to play Cal in a currently in-development Disney+ series.

According to former Collider host Kristian Harloff on his YouTube channel, a show based on Kestis' adventures is in the works, and Monaghan has signed on to play the fan-favorite Force-wielder. Harloff stresses that this is very much a rumor for now, but he definitely seems to trust his source.

We don't really have much more to go on at this time, but Kestis has been rumored to appear in live-action form in other projects in the past, so while this is certainly worth keeping an eye on, we're going to maintain a healthy dose of scepticism until we learn more.

Given the Fallen Order game's popularity, it wouldn't be remotely hard to believe that Disney/Lucasfilm might be interested in some kind of live-action showcase for the character. The events of the game takes place before The Mandalorian, so if they decided to set this show later in the timeline, it could tie-in to future seasons of the likes of The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and more. Survivor, meanwhile, is said to take place around the same time as Obi-Wan Kenobi.

What do you guys make of this? Would you be interested in a Cal Kestis-centric Disney+ series, or would you prefer if the character remained part of the video game universe (the games are considered canon, as far as we know).

I can see established characters like Obi-Wan, Bail, Maul or anyone from the Solo cast make an appearance in Jedi Survivor, but I don't really see Cal make the jump to live-action yet

@bkmeijer1 - I don't think he should have a lead role, but a cameo of him in Kenobi season 2 would be interesting. He would be good as a supporting character, but not as the lead.

@Timerider84 - that could work, but I wonder what his arc would be outside of the game. Him just showing up would feel kinda shallow in my opinion.

@bkmeijer1 - More Jimmy Smits is always welcome. Basil Oregano is possibly the only star wars character I've never seen anyone complain about?

@UncleHarm1 - agreed. Even in his brief appearances in Obi-Wan Kenobi and Rogue One, I just really liked seeing him.

@bkmeijer1 - Bail actually has a really solid, tragic character arc going on. From the deleted scenes in RotS, to the Force Unleashed, to the Obi-Wan Variety Hour, to Rogue One, to unceremoniously exploding off screen in New Hope, he goes from naive optimist to scared parent to rebel leader all kinda just in the background...

He might be my favorite SW character now that I think about it

@bkmeijer1 - Disney you cowards, give me a Bail Organa and Mon Mothma show that's just 6 hours of C-SPAN political debates

@UncleHarm1 - I definitely agree with your assessment of his arc. He might not be my favourite character, but he is definitely among my favourite side characters. And Jimmy Smits is integral to that for sure.

I'd be open to a political show with him for sure. Especially if that means more Alderaan, because I really dig the aesthetic of that.

Not everything needs to be a show

It’d be great to see him in live action at some point. The game had a great story to it.

Eventually every single Star Wars story anybody has ever thought of will have been made.

Personally looking forward to the Admiral Akbar prequel series. Who was he before he was an Admiral? Akbar.
