THE ACOLYTE Actress Dafne Keen Shares Intriguing New Details About The "Sith-Led" STAR WARS Series

The Acolyte showrunner Leslye Headland previously revealed that the series would dedicate a lot of screen-time to the "antagonists," but Dafne Keen has now confirmed that the show will be fully "Sith-led."

Disney+'s upcoming Star Wars series, The Acolyte, recently entered production, and Lucasfilm released a vague synopsis to give fans a better idea of what to expect from the show.

While the logline seemed to suggest that things would play out from the perspective of the Jedi, it's now been confirmed that the story will actually be "Sith-led."

During a press tour to promote the third (and final) season of HBO's His Dark Materials (via SFFGazette), Dafne Keen was asked if she could share anything about her first trip to the Galaxy Far, Far Away.

The Logan star, whose role is still under wraps, was hesitant to reveal any specific details, but may have divulged a little more than she realized while discussing the show.

“No, I mean, as you know, it’s set 100 years before the prequel movies, and it’s kind of an explanation of how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi. It’s a Sith-led story, which has never been done before. It’s been really fun to film – the cast is amazing, and the director and crew are just lovely. The whole experience is wonderful, and I’m already excited for people to see it.”

Showrunner Leslye Headland has previously stated that The Acolyte will dedicate a lot of screen-time to "the antagonists," but the news that the show will focus on the Sith "infiltrating" the Jedi is an intriguing new revelation.

The Acolyte will also star Amandla Stenberg (The Hate U Give), Lee Jung-jae (Squid Game), Manny Jacinto (Nine Perfect Strangers), Carrie Anne-Moss (The Matrix), Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen & Slim), Rebecca Henderson (Inventing Anna), Charlie Barnett (Russian Doll), and Dean-Charles Chapman (1917).

The series is described as, "a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era. A former Padawan reunites with her Jedi Master to investigate a series of crimes, but the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated."

No premiere date has been announced, but we might just get some updates during Lucasfilm's CCXP panel over the weekend, so be sure to keep an eye out.

Seeing how Acolyte is a rank/term used by Sith and not by Jedi, I never expected otherwise than this to be a Sith-led show. Just wonder what Sith is gonna be the lead

@bkmeijer1 - They can't do this show and not give us Plagueis at some point.

@UniqNo - agree. I hope we even get to see Plagueis and Venamis. Always liked that from the books, so I hope to see it become canon one day.

Plagueis is a must though

@bkmeijer1 - If this is about how the Sith infiltrated the Jedi then its really starting to bend the rules of the Rule of Two, it feels like.

Are we to believe that a Sith infiltrated the Jedi and was there hiding the whole time? 100 years before Palpatine takes over? How could there be a Sith hiding in the Jedi while Plagueis is training other apprentices? Or while he's being trained. He was a firm believer in the Rule of Two.

This all sounds strange.

@CorndogBurglar - as I understand it, Acolyte isn't an actual Sith. Just like how Ventress wasn't a full blown Sith, but just an Acolyte.

Not sure yet how I feel about the infiltration too though. Maybe this is about Plagieus apprentice before Palpatine became his apprentice?

@UniqNo - until we get who characters are in show expectations are low at this point

@bkmeijer1 - Could be that Plagueis is the Acolyte. I don't know how much has been specified in the current canon, so they might be rewriting a lot of stuff.

@ObserverIO - that could very well be the case as well. As I said earlier, I also wanna see Venamis in canon. So, I'm kinda hoping Venamis is actually the Acolyte

@CorndogBurglar - My understanding of the rule of 2, is that there are only ever 2 true Sith. The master and the apprentice. But they keep a pool of lesser trained dark side users to use. That's were groups like the acolytes and inquisitors come into play. That way they don't have the strength or training to make a power grab against the 2, but can be used as tools when needed.

In writing this show sounds like it should be good, but after how mid Obi Wan was, i'll hold judgement until i've seen a couple episodes.

Andor still the GOAT of star wars.

I like the sound of this show. Something new, something different. I just hope it's the quality of Andor and Mando because if it is, this show could be something special. Cautiously optimistic about this one

@Imprtracr1 - I just looked her up. Wtf are they thinking? Her most notable works include the f@#%ing Bachelorette. And nothing here shows she has anything to give for a high budget space opera.

@Imprtracr1 - I thought this was supposed to be run by Kate Herron (Loki). That's the main reason I've been getting excited about this show.

@Imprtracr1 @Origame -
They mentioned when the show was announced that she was hired because of Russian Doll, which is a critically acclaimed drama on Netflix.

@Darkknight2149 - yeah just because you have one critically acclaimed series doesn't mean you're in a position to write for star wars. Especially when said series is basically just groundhog day.

PLEASE don't try and make the sith takeover and the rise of the empire out to be somehow heroic!

I’m still skeptical about this show. I like it is taking part in a unique time period but their High Republic run can be pretty hit and miss.

Imagine thinking Star Wars is still about laser swords and space magic in a post Andor world.
