"A war left unfinished... until now."

Last year's SDCC 10th Anniversary panel for The Clone Wars revealed that the much-loved animated series would return for a seventh season, and during tonight's SWCC presentation, executive producer Dave Filoni shared a brand new trailer which has now been officially released online.

The intriguing teaser features returning characters such a pre-dark side Anakin Skywalker, Obi Wan Kenobi, Captain Rex, Yoda, and more. We also get a brief glimpse of Ahsoka Tano throwing down with none other than Darth Maul.

The Clone Wars finished up back in 2014 and while it did end on a satisfactory note for many fans, it was clear that there were still plenty of stories left to tell, and now we get to see them!

Star Wars: The Clone Wars will be returning with 12 all-new episodes on the Disney+ streaming service. Though no official premiere date has been announced, it should be with us at some point this year. Check out the new trailer and a poster below and let us know what you think.

@ChangAlang - I think now it's getting to the point of over saturation with him.

@mastakilla39 - yes, Rebels is set between Revenge Of The Sith and A New Hope. Clone Wars is set between Attack of the Clones and Revenge OF The Sith.

@Nebula - Maybe I should’ve said “I love me a bit of what Darth Maul should have been if done right” ;)

For me, his portrayal in Phantom Menace up to his death(?) was beautiful.

I question marked because we know that in SW you don’t die by falling into pits..even if you are cut in half😂😂

Maul always puts a good fight but jeez now even ahsoka is gonna whoop his ass. Even blind man Kanan pushed him off a ledge! Wouldn't be surprised if young Solo also defeated him at some point.

Another reason to get Disney+. Revive EMH and Spectacular while you're at it.

@MCUKnight11 - Bringing Spectacular Spider-man back would be a dream come true. Marvel Animation desperately need to be revitalized with more content written well enough to be enjoyed by fans of all ages. I'm hopeful the What If? series will be a step in the right direction.

One thing I don't understand is why they're doing Seige of Mandalore right now. I'm pretty sure that's the series finale. Wasn't it meant to be a season 8 episode?

Also, I really hope it's not too different from how it would have been made under the old Lucasfilm. I'd love it to feel OG Clone Wars. I wasn't sure how I felt when I heard official Star Wars music in the show for the first time in the clip played today.

Ah, finally some closure! Still feels weird to get back to this after a healthy dose of Star Wars Rebels!

Even this doesn't restore the faith I once had in Star Wars, that even the prequels couldn't kill.

They just had to screw up Luke, thoroughly.. I thought nobody could be that stupid.

Is it weird that out of all Star Wars projects this is the one I’m most hyped for? Maybe if The Mandalorian drops a trailer it might change, but as of right now I want this now

@MalseMarcel - It's no weird at all! I feel the same way. I think for Star Wars fans who have taken the time to watch the great arcs of Clone Wars, the series feels more like "real" Star Wars than just about anything they've put out since the prequel trilogy wrapped up. It expands on and enhances the story and mythology of the franchise.

I'm also excited for The Mandalorian, in large part because Filoni is involved. I'm curious to see if some of the characters from Clone Wars and Rebels finally make the jump over to live action. I could see people like Rex and Hondo showing up. If they really get into the Mandalorian culture rather than just having this one character represent it all, maybe we could see Bo-Katan and Sabine.
