THE BAD BATCH Sizzle Reel Promises A Very Different STAR WARS Animated Series From Lucasfilm

A sizzle reel for The Bad Batch has been released during Disney's Investor Day, and it's clear that The Clone Wars spinoff will be a very different animated series from Lucasfilm. Read on for details...

Lucasfilm clearly isn't shying away from telling some new Star Wars stories on Disney+, but The Bad Batch - which spins out of the events of The Clone Wars - looks like a wild ride.

It was announced in July that Dave Filoni will serve as the show's executive producer, and joining him are fellow Star Wars animated veterans Athena Portillo, Brad Rau, Jennifer Corbett, Carrie Beck, and Josh Rimes. Rau, will also serve as supervising director, while Corbett is head writer.

According to the official blurb, the show will follow the elite and experimental clones of the Bad Batch (first introduced in The Clone Wars) as they find their way in a rapidly changing galaxy in the immediate aftermath of the Clone War. Members of Bad Batch - a unique squad of clones who vary genetically from their brothers in the Clone Army p each possess a singular exceptional skill which makes them extraordinarily effective soldiers and a formidable crew.

This sizzle reel offers a much better idea of what to expect from The Bad Batch, and while we don't have a premiere date just yet, work has clearly been continuing in earnest as it looks awesome.

Take a look at the newly revealed footage from the series below:

The logo reveal at the end was neat and clean.

The animation looks as good as in The Clone Wars show.

This is really gonna be interesting to see post Order 66 from the clones perspectives and a show that essentially follows the "bad guys" but they don't know it. Also was that Fennec Shand at 0:41s?

Love that it is in the style of Clone Wars and considering how heartbreaking the clone stories were in Clone Wars this should be an interesting continuation of the downfall of the clones.

Look kinda like an imperial commando show. Should definitely be interesting. A time period that hasn't be explored very often in canon as well.

So it looks like it will be set during and after the clone wars, like right after it.

Hope we find out what happened to Cody and they finish young Boba Fett’s story

No one else probably cares but as a huge animation buff and Hamilton fan they just announced a new Disney Animation feature next year with Lin Manuael Miranda doing the music.

Spoke to soon. Lightyear sounds like another Toy Story nostalgia cash grab, which is how I felt about 4 despite liking it (though not as much as the original trilogy)
