THE EXPANSE Star Wes Chatham Joins AHSOKA As Grand Admiral Thrawn's Right-Hand Man

Another casting addition for the Disney+ Ahsoka series here, with The Expanse alum Wes Chatham on board The Mandalorian spin-off as Grand Admiral Thrawn's chief lieutenant...

The first trailer for Ahsoka was released during Star Wars Celebration over the weekend, and it confirmed that the Disney+ The Mandalorian spin-off will feature the live-action debut of Star Wars Rebels baddie Grand Admiral Thrawn (Lars Mikkelsen).

Now, Deadline is reporting that the cold, calculating Chiss Imperial is going to have a right-hand man in the form of The Expanse alum Wes Chatham.

No further details on Chatham's role were provided, so we have no idea if he'll be a previously established Star Wars character or someone created just for this series.

Spoilers for Wednesday's episode of The Mandalorian follow.

The most recent episode of The Mandalorian gave Thrawn a mention, suggesting that the villain has been MIA for quite a while (no surprise given the events of the Rebels series finale), and has a formidable force awaiting his return.

"He doesn't have the force. He's not a Jedi, he's not a superhero of any kind, but he has the brain. He has all of that in that regard," Mikkelsen said of his character during SWC. "How does he stack up against characters like Ahsoka, Sabine, and all these other people we're going to see and possibly antagonize in the live-action series? I mean, his superpower is his mind, which is really and always like seven paces ahead of everybody. And I'm in that sense also ahead of you as an audience, I think. So that's what you expect."

Ahsoka is set to premiere on Disney+ this August.

One step closer to Disney realising who the perfect Wolverine is

@Cap1 - personally I've always preferred him for Beast and Milo Gibson for Wolverine. Wouldn't be upset with this though

@Cap1 - I literally clicked to post "in before someone says he should play Wolverine".......I was 4th and already far too late.

@Cap1 - Wouldn't be mad at it but Ray Nicholson is still my frontrunner for Logan tbh.

@Cap1 - came here to say this. He can really pull off that unhinged kinda anger from what I’ve seen of him in the expanse

@Rosraf - you don't think he'd pull it off?

@Superspecialawesomeguy - he doesn’t seem like that good of an actor though 🤔

@TheNewYorker - I think he can do the rebellious loner well but he seems to have been typecast in the romantic hearthrob part in his recent roles (from what I've seen), hopefully he can show off his range more in his upcoming projects.

@Cap1 - Yup, as long as they use some subtle FX to shorten him a bit. Face and mannerisms are right on the money, but he comes across as quite a big guy and we need a shorter Wolvie next time out.

@Cap1 - Maybe. It was more about perpetual kneejerk wolverine casting suggestions.

In the Zahn books “ Gilad Pellaeon” was Thrawn’s right hand man.

I remember that from the books but a simple Google search confirmed it.

Pellaeon was revealed via hologram in this most recent episode of The Mandalorian, but he looked much older than Wes Chatham.

We don’t know if they close to recast Pellaeon for the Ahsoka show or if Thrawn’s right hand is a new yet to be named character.

Now in the Thrawn Trilogy books “ Rukh was a male Noghri warrior who served as the personal bodyguard, and then later the assassin, of Grand Admiral Thrawn.”

So could Chatham be playing Rukh with his role being changed from bodyguard to right hand?

@TyrantBossMedia - fun fact: Palleon was played by the great Xander Berkeley

@TyrantBossMedia - Rukh is dead, he dies in Rebels

Chatham is probably playing Eli Vanto from the new Thrawn Trilogy

I could see him as Logan but my castings for MCU Wolverine are still Mark Webber or Ray Nicholson.

Wes is a terrific addition. His Amos was an absolute delight and highlight on screen in The Expanse.

@HeavyMetal4Life - This is terrible. It makes it less likely he will be cast as Wolverine. He would kill it as Logan imo.
