THE MANDALORIAN: Directors Peyton Reed And Robert Rodriguez Confirm Season 2 Involvement

The Star Wars news continues this May the 4th, as filmmakers Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) and Peyton Reed (Ant-Man) appear to have confirmed their The Mandalorian Season 2 involvement with some set photos.

A rumor recently did the rounds that several guest directors had dropped by the set of The Mandalorian Season 2 to helm episodes of/sequences for the live-action Star Wars series. Logan's James Mangold quickly denied the report, but two of the other filmmakers mentioned have now confirmed their involvement.

Taking to Twitter in celebration of Star Wars Day, Peyton Reed (Ant-Man and the Wasp) and Robert Rodriguez (Sin City) both shared behind-the-scenes photos from the Season 2 set.

The latter made it very clear that he has helmed an episode (episodes?) of the show with a shot of the ever-adorable Baby Yoda. Reed's post was a little more vague, as the director shared a black-and-white pic of Dyn Jarren's (Pedro Pascal) helmet along with the #MayThe4thBeWithYou hashtag. Reed's name on that director's chair would appear to leave little doubt that he has stepped behind the camera, however.

Bryce Dallas Howard is also said to be returning to direct at episode for Season 2, and while the Jurassic World actress didn't confirm this, she did take to Instagram to share some BTS shots from the currently streaming documentary series.

This was reported on a while ago. I think the guy who was publicly embarrassed on Twitter for what was, at the time, painted as an inaccurate story deserves to be mentioned.

`Anyone else thinks this is the most overrated show? If it wasn't for the Star Wars banner, people would write it off as an average TV show. I had hopes they would do something original, but after the first episode and seeing baby yoda, I was let down. Just another fan service show rather than doing something unique and original, which is what I thought it would be with the teasers and trailers.

It's crazy to me how great The Mandalorian is and how awful the new trilogy was. Rogue One was also such a great film. I hope Disney analyzes what worked with The Mandalorian and Rogue One and craft the future Star Wars films the same way.

@Nebula - To each their own, of course, but to me the Ant-Man franchise has had some of the most effective and inventive effects-heavy action sequences in the MCU. Even if the sequel fell sadly short on the drama, the set-pieces hold up. Ant-Man and the Wasp in particular is very effective at blending the size-altered objects into a real-feeling-space.

@soberchimera @SpockOClock - The first one is very formulaic and I chalk up the good in that one to Edgar Wright. AMATW was all Peyton Reed and it's the only MCU film I can remember coming out of like "that was awful." Barely any of the comedy worked for me and it was all just so dumb.

And the whole conflict rides on a plot hole. You have Lawrence Fishburne essentailly establish that it's either Ghost or Janet, one of them will have to die — the stakes are set. Then Janet comes out of the Quantum Realm and mind-melds with Ghost and they're all fine. She's totally up to speed with everything that's going on. Therefore, if she had simply said that "Ghost doesn't have to die so that I can live, we can just mind-meld" when she was possessing Scott, the conflict is gone. It would be irrational for her to not. Something like that, I explained it better when the movie first came out. Haven't seen it in a while.

All in all, it was like a shitty episode of The Flash and I expect better from the MCU as well as just any movie, anything in general.
