Unfortunately, some online scoopers got wind of Katee Sackhoff's role in The Mandalorian several months ago, and that meant Bo-Katan Kryze's appearance in last Friday's episode wasn't really that surprising. Since that news broke, there has also been buzz about the actress starring in a spinoff alongside Gina Carano's former Rebel Shock trooper, Cara Dune.
Chatting to Deadline, Sackhoff said, "I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about; that’s legitimately the truth," seemingly debunking that rumor once and for all.
That news will disappoint some, but the actress still teased some untold stories featuring the former wielder of the Darksaber, as well as some interactions with the Jedi which The Mandalorian only hinted at.
"To say that she had a good relationship with the Jedi is a bit of an overstatement," Sackhoff teases. "I think that there is some sort of history there [with the Jedi]. What Bo-Katan specifically means by that is not for anyone to know yet."
She would also go on to reiterate the importance of the Darksaber and how the powerful weapon could factor into future Star Wars storytelling.
"For Bo-Katan, the Darksaber represents so much, there’s so much lore about it, but at the same time, it’s in her mind and based on history; it’s the way to bring together the people of Mandalore and the way to rule and respect that is by earning it."
It's obvious that there's more ground to cover with Bo-Katan, and bounty hunter Din Djarin eventually becoming involved with the battle to retake Mandalore seems inevitable. Whether that's a story The Mandalorian tells or one that's covered elsewhere on Disney+ remains a mystery for now.
