An interesting rumour started doing the rounds this week and, if true, it sounds like a huge star could soon be making their way to a Galaxy Far, Far Away.

According to a popular Instagram account that specialises in celebrity gossip, "a prime British early-2000’s film stud is adding to his recent nerdgasm resume (Marvel, Wizarding World)" after he was "recently cast in an unannounced Star Wars extended universe Disney+ show."

It's not hard to figure out that the post refers to Jude Law, someone who has embraced blockbuster projects in recent years by taking on roles in the likes of Captain Marvel and the Fantastic Beasts franchise. He would be a tremendous addition to the Star Wars franchise, and with a High Republic era Disney+ series going into production later this year, that could be where Law is heading.

The project has been described as "Strange Things in space," and is expected to follow a group of young Jedi hundreds of years before the events of The Phantom Menace. Jon Favreau is executive producing, while Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts will helm at least one episode.

We've previously heard that the series, codenamed "Grammar Rodeo," was looking to cast a male in his thirties or forties for a lead role, and Law definitely fits the bill.

It's worth taking this rumour with a pinch of salt for now because this account's track record is probably 50/50 and the news isn't coming from the trades. Law playing a Jedi would be a true sight to behold on screen, though we can't help but think he'd make a pretty excellent villain as well.

Stay tuned to SFFGazette.com for the latest on this one as we have it.

Stellan Gios or Elzar Mann? Be cool to see these characters in live action.

@Gmoney84 - As soon as I read the headline I thought he'd be a great Elzar

I could get behind a jedi master Jude Law, in a nonprovocative sense.

@TheDpool - I could see him as either Jedi or Sith, we've just be spoiled by his Albus. I'd love to see an Atris like character, but I don't know much about the High Republic yet.

I always thought he could fit perfectly in the Star Wars universe.

Jude Law's masterplan to join every franchise in the face of Earth is still going well I see.
