THE MANDALORIAN: New Concept Art Reveals Early Take On Ahsoka Tano Prior To Rosario Dawson Being Cast

A Lucasfilm character designer has revealed a much different take on Ahsoka Tano, and while these illustrations show us alternate costumes, we also see the beloved hero before Rosario Dawson was cast...

The Mandalorian has featured plenty of surprises since first arriving on Disney+, from Baby Yoda to the Darksaber and even Ahsoka Tano's live-action debut in the show's second season.

That episode set the stage for the character's upcoming spinoff series (a sequel to Star Wars Rebels), while we later got to see Ahsoka cross paths with Luke Skywalker in The Book of Boba Fett earlier this year. Now, concept artist Brian Matyas has shared an early design for The Clone Wars breakout's jump from animation to live-action, and she looks quite a bit different here.

Rosario Dawson would eventually play Ahsoka, of course, though this artwork was clearly created prior to her being cast. Matyas explains that "[Dave] Filoni liked the grey costume palette of the previous post so I kept with that theme here keeping the cut of the fabric clean and graphic."

The costume we did see in The Mandalorian was quite a bit darker, but there are elements here that did make it into the series. Ahsoka looked very much the same in The Book of Boba Fett, though we'd bet on the beloved character getting another new look when she returns in her upcoming solo project.

Very little has been revealed about Ahsoka, though the expectation is that it will follow Anakin Skywalker's former apprentice as she hunts down Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger alongside Sabin Wren. Recently, we learned that Hayden Christensen will also make an appearance in the series.

@ShimmyShimmyYA - SFF is actually doing great and in all fairness, this was posted to SFF first. As it should be. It is, after all, the site that's *dedicated* to Sci-Fi and fantasy, rather than a site that's dedicated to *Comic Book Movies*...

Users get what they ask for (Star Wars content on CBM) and they *still* complain 🤣

@NateBest - I wasn’t complaining just a snarky comment I saw it on the other site yesterday when y’all posted and think the guys do good work.

I’ve always interpreted CBM to basically be nerdyshit.com and I assume others have to which is where I think others like myself find it odd to split everything up

@ShimmyShimmyYA - LoL! Gotcha 😉🤓

It has kind of turned into a catchall site, which has always rubbed me the wrong way 😵🤣

I got a feeling she's going to be showing up in Obi Wan. Would that be forced fan service? I dunno. But it would be cool to see her interact with Obi Wan or Vader in live action after seeing her interact with Luke.

@UniqNo - If we're gonna get another Jedi survivor, I'm kinda hoping for Cal Kestis to show up. Seeing what direction the show is going in, I don't think that's out of the realm of possibility

@bkmeijer1 - Hey that's not a bad one. Or even Kanan, after we saw him escape in The Bad Batch.

@UniqNo - Maybe in a flashback to CW-era.

@UniqNo - that could be fun as well, but storywise I'm not sure how that's gonna fit. Cal Kestis seems to be at the right place in his arc post-Fallen Order for him to make an appearance. But yeah, a CW-era flashback could work

@Odin - a flashback to something that can be easily referenced to the CW series would he awsome.

I don’t like her Ashoka thus far. She seems to be a bit of a see you next Tuesday. At first I liked the casting when they announced it & then the first episode intro to her she was a badass but pretty much right after that as soon as she got some dialogue I thought maybe she sucks & im waiting & hoping for her to change my mind
