Action-Packed New Trailer For ASSASSIN'S CREED Takes Us Through A History Of Violence

Fox has released a final trailer for Assassin's Creed, and as well as tying into the video games in a big way, there's not an awful pop song to be heard as Callum Lynch and Aguilar leap into action...

It looks like this is going to be a day of trailers! Following the release of new looks at Spider-Man: Homecoming and War for the Planet of the Apes, Fox has released a final preview for Assassin's Creed. This one ditches the not to great pop songs to focus on the story, with the big reveal being that the Templars are still on the hunt for the Apple of Eden, something fans of the game will be familiar with.

An original story rather than a direct take on one of the games, the movie picks up with Callum Lynch in the present after he discovers he’s a descendant of the secret Assassins society through unlocked memories that allow him to relive the adventures of his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain.

After gaining incredible knowledge and skills he’s poised to take on the oppressive Knights Templar in the present day. Set in the same world as the game, but just how closely tied to them it will be remains to be seen. Assassin’s Creed stars Michael Fassbender, Marion Cotillard, Michael Kenneth Williams, and Ariane Labed, and is currently set to be released on December 21st, 2016. Are you guys excited?

Excited for this movie, but definitely a little concerned about the embargo lift, especially so close to Rogue One. Hoping for the best, love the series and what potential this has for future installments, and Fassbender is a phenomenal actor. Great cast all around.

Now see, if this is the trailer they released from the start people wouldn't be shitting on it as much. Maybe they still would be, but not as much.

So much exposition in the trailer.

I dread to see how much of the movie is the same.

Well, it's nice that they finally released a trailer with a bit of story to it... odd that they wait until this close to the film's release to do so.

I expect this to flop, honestly. Not just because of the bad release position, but because I think that the whole Future/Past thing is unnecessarily convoluted and off-putting to general audiences. Plus, even with this trailer's tiny hint of a goal for the characters, there has been no story flow to any of the trailers... just heavy exposition scenes and disjointed action sequences. It's still unclear who the good guys are, who the bad guys are, or what anyone really wants.

This movie will most likely bomb financially, and the review embargo indicates it will receive terrible reviews... but I think it looks great and will still see it, just with lowered expectations.
