Long-rumored but now officially confirmed, an HD remake of Final Fantasy VII is on the way. Check out the firs trailer, which debuted at this year's E3 expo. At Sony Computer Entertainment of America LLC’s (SCEA) E3 press conference today, SQUARE ENIX® announced that it has begun production on the full remake of FINAL FANTASY® VII for the PlayStation®4 computer entertainment system. Leading the development will be key members from the original project, including producer Yoshinori Kitase, director Tetsuya Nomura and scenario writer Kazushige Nojima.

I'm so excited. I always wanted to play this game because I heard great things but I never had a console to play this game on. Now that's remade, that'll just make it all the more fun for me.

This game changed everything and at the time there was absolutely nothing like it before. It still is one of the top three FF games IMO.

The greatest game of all time is not final fantasy 7. Sony's e3 conference was boring as

@MrSotoMan

It will definitely be a few years, Square never does anything quickly. But this is the first time they've even considered remaking FF7, I don't know what you're referencing but they've repeatedly said up until now they had zero interest in doing it.

@MrSotoMan

PLaystation commissioned that tech demo. They called up Square and asked if they could make something to demonstrate PS3's capabilities, Square asked what they wanted, and Sony said they wanted a lifelike re-imagining of the intro to 7.

Find me 1 conjecture article about them turning that technical piece into a game, and I'll find you 10 different instances where Square's President shot down the concept when it would repeatedly be brought up.

This and Shenmue 3 were the big highlights. It's crazy how much I've been spending on Kickstarter recently. Bloodstained, Bards
Tale 4 and Yooka-Laylee. Hopefully at TGS Sega will do one for Panzer Dragoon Saga 2. I'd pay some good money for that. I'd even pay to play the old Saturn game on the consoles.

The sad thing about this getting remade is that it will take five or more years before it comes out. Just look how long it's taking Final Fantasy XV, easily six years from when it was shown to now. I hope SquareEnix will make a sequel or remake to Vagrant Story next. That was my favorite Squaresoft game and I'd enjoy playing a new one.

@MrSotoMan Well [frick]ing almost 10 years for FF 15 and 10 [frick]ing years for KH 3. What the hell are they doing? They made 2 sequels to FF 13. Why not KH3?

@MrSotoMan Shenmue already reached its goal. The goal was 2 million and it reached 4 million.

It's more of the story, than anything else. I do think I have nostalgia blinders on too, so it might not be as great as I remember it. It was one of the first open world type games, which isn't anything special anymore. So I can totally see what you're talking about.

Not FFXII = Don't Care.

Actually, I don't think there's anything that can make me care about this franchise anymore. It's all overdesigned ridiculous fashion, uncanny valley facial animation, and bland character archetypes based on previous iterations of the same archetypes.

Squeenix should be putting it's production budget into something like Dragon's Dogma. With a bigger, more complex and interesting world, DD could have been one of the greatest games of all time. The combat was second to none, customizability was through the roof, and the plot/pawn gimmick is somewhat interesting but could have been a lot better implemented.

Oh shit, brain fart. I was thinking Square Enix made Dragon's Dogma, but it was Capcom.

Whatever remains of my point, I stand by, but now it just seems like a random comparison.
