IGN is reporting that Frank O'Connor, the main person behind the Halo world, is saying that a Halo film will happen.

One version of the movie almost came into existence before with Peter Jackson executive producing and Neill Blomkamp directing.

However, now O'Connor is saying (at the recent MI6 Conference in San Francisco last week):

"We're going to make a movie when the time is right," he stated. "We own the IP. If we want to make a movie, the scale of all the other stuff that we do changes dramatically. We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially. We have some numbers if we do a movie, but it changes everything. It also changes our target and age demographic."

Halo comes to theaters in 2012.

the promo vids for halo: odst were awesome, unfortunately an actually movie probably won't be anywhere near as epic as those were.

"We make tens and tens of millions of dollars on ancillary stuff, toys, apparel, music and publishing. If we do a movie all of that will grow exponentially."

and i don't understand that quote. he makes it sound like a hassle. gee, who wants to make 10's of millions of dollars???

Didn't Jackson back out because they cut the budget? If this films' budget isn't around $100M, i'll wait for the DVD. It's they only way to get this thing done right...

They NEED to get James Cameran to make this. With his motion capture bringing the covenent to life. I smell a money maker. All they have to do is give him a pecentage of the back end profits.

@whatsinthebox no. james cameron would make everything cgi. i hate when movies do that unless theyre like pixar movies or something. I want them to do it like how peter jackson did lord of the rings. yes most of the big enemies are cgi but thye shot on location instead of litearally everything on the screen, hell even the actors, are cgi.
