It Appears As If Marvel Is Developing A SECRET WARS Video Game Of Some Sort

Secret Wars feels like the perfect basis for a video game of some sort and it's now been revealed - via a trademark filing - that something is in the works from Marvel. Read on for additional details...

We don't know exactly what it's for at this stage but Bleeding Cool has uncovered a new trademark by Marvel for Secret Wars which will cover, well, the list is a long one! The gist of it, though, is that it's going to be a video game of some sort. It could be an expansion for another title or an entirely new property and it's currently unclear whether it will be heading to consoles, mobile devices, or both.

What we do know is that Marvel is developing a new series of video games which will be released on the former, including Spider-Man PS4 and that Avengers title from Square Enix. Secret Wars was a limited series pitting some of the Marvel Universe's best heroes and villains against each other and it would be a perfect basis for an Injustice style beat 'em up featuring a plethora of our favourites.

However, Secret Wars was brought back a few years ago for a reality altering event which could also make for a good game. We'll just have to wait and see but either one would be good to see happen.

No more beat 'em up please, please! We've already had Marvel vs. Capcom, Injustice...it's such a boring concept to me.

The worst part of it, IMO, is that they must have street levelers like Robin going mano-a-mano with the likes of Darkseid, and so they have to make up some plot BS (Kryptonian pill, for Injustice) to explain it away.

Even if you are going to do a beat 'em up game, I think it would be much better in a 3D arena setting, rather than a side-scroller. You could have much more dynamic fights and really show off characters' powers, where you can only do that in cutscenes with side-scrolling fighting games.

@teefurtree - Sorry, I had the wrong word. "Beat 'em up" isn't what I meant, I'm referring to the "versus", Mortal Kombat style fighting games.

@teefurtree -
Yeah i know what you mean, i have your same "problem" but ppl love em, besides, the story is actually good, for Injustice at least.

This kind of games (and the Telltale ones) are like small movies for me, i don't buy em, but i watch the whole thing on YT!

And ohh god how much i loved Injustice 2! :)

Could it not be a add on for a game like that Marvel Heroes?

@Chameleon - No, lets have a proper game.

@Chameleon - It could be. I enjoy Marvel Heroes Omega, but it does need more stories.

Hopefully it will be like Arkham series or PS4 Spiderman instead of a fighting game.

@Archgoat - Amen. I prefer an actual adventure than a Marvel version of Injustice

If they make a Marvel Universe beat 'em up they need to put the X-Men in it too or i won't buy..

MvC Infinite without Wolverine is a travesty.
