Jim Lee And Geoff Johns Debate Green Lantern vs Superman & Flash vs Batman

The top creative forces at DC Comics have an interesting conversation about who would win in an all out battle between Green Lantern & Superman and Flash & Batman. Who do you think would win?

As part of the marketing campaign for Injustice: Gods Among Us, DC Comics' Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and co-Publisher Jim Lee debate the strengths and weaknesses of Superman, Green Lantern, Batman and The Flash who are engaging in an all out battle in the video game.

Jim Lee Geoff Johns Injustice: Gods Among Us

Jim Lee picks Superman to win over Green Lantern instantly as if it's a no-brainer but Johns, who has written Green Lantern for a number of years lays out a well-constructed argument for the intergalactic space cop. Maybe this is how they work on Justice League scripts?

As for Flash vs Batman, Jim Lee takes Flash but then rethinks it and says 'Batman's power is that he can beat anyone.'

Injustice: Gods Among US hits U.S. shelves April 16th on the PS3, Wii U and Xbox 360.

Hal Jordan without Parallax would probably lose but do not underestimate the will of Hal Jordan. Batman cannot win against Flash. Green Lantern at least has a chance against Superman. Just manifest kryptonite and beat the shit outta him. Hal has also made constructs that Supes could not hit through.

in order of death:
*fight begins*
2 secs later, batman dies
5 secs later flash dies
10 minutes after green lantern chokes on supermans dick.

superman wins and pisses on all their [frick]ing corpses.

can't wait for batman fanboys to bitch about batman winning with prep time.

Everybody is so quick to theorize what a GL can't do. The ring has no limit itself, it's bearer on the other hand does. Look into your comic history, and tell me there isn't one person so strong willed, that if they got a ring, they wouldn't be the strongest being in the universe. Any GL has the ability to beat anyone.

In a exhibition, my vote goes to Kal-El. In a fight that that has dire consequence, my vote goes Hal.

Superman always holds back or there's some contrived reason why he can't fight at full power. But here's the thing, Superman has enough power not only to move a planet, but to quite literally punch it so hard it breaks apart completely. Allow him to fight at full power and nobody stands a chance. Flash would probably last the longest but in the end he would fall before the might of the man who can survive a supernova.

Lantern is restricted by the limits of what he can imagine, which is to say the human brain. Even facing a regular opponent, a fistfight generally moves far too quickly to visualize your next move: you just have to react. Of course, we're expected to believe that Jordan has trained himself to react with his usual constructs and gain distance to come up with the bigger stuff.

Problem being that Supes can move thousands of times faster than Hal can think. By the time Hal's reactionary green boxing glove should have been kicking off, Supes is enjoying a cold beer and admiring his new ring with Hal Jordan's beaten body as his chaise lounge.

And yes, of course Flash beats Batman.

The ONLY way Batman or Lantern has any chance is if they're given prep time.

All of this has me ready for a free roam JLA game, Grand Theft Auto style, on a console, with a touch of Knights of Old Republic, with your character decisions having potential to make you a hero or villain.

You can plug in up to six players and do missions together, fight each, etc. And settle it in the streets, like we used to do in the golden age!

@SwingsetKnight

Couldn't Green Lantern use the ring on himself to "boost" his reaction time to superhuman levels? I once read a Superman story where John Stewart and the
Justice League thought Superman was a threat to Earth.Stewart set his power ring
to fire automatically if Superman moved at superspeed.

Green Lantern has served alongside The Flash and Superman and fought
General Zod's Kryptonian armies (before the new 52) so it would make sense to
have emergency orders placed in the ring to at least raise his shields if a superspeed attack takes place.

A Green Lantern's ring can generate "Mental ear plugs" to defend against psionic attacks.Why can't the same ring boost it's wearers reaction time.

@ Pharaoh - Nope, crossing the line. Superman would hold his own against any GL, but if he faced off against two he's dead.

The whole GL corps? Are you nuts? No one is that powerful.
Oxbow

@blkyank

if you were to boost hal jordan's reaction to time to superman's, Hal would rip his own arm off the first time he tried to land a punch! Despite all the things a GL's ring can do, Hal is still just a human being.

If Hal was smart enough to get to a red sun IMMEDIATELY, he would have a chance. Otherwise, Superman's speed knocks Hal out before he can get a punch in.

Can we stop pretending Batman beats everyone just once? He really shouldnt have beat Wonder Woman.Flash could take him out before he could reach into his utiliy belt.Supes vs Flash is the real debate.
