News has been pretty slow today, nothing at all going on not even in a galaxy far, far away... until now! According to Deadline:
New Regency and Ubisoft are in talks with Justin Kurzel to direct Assassin’s Creed, the live action adaptation of the Ubisoft video game that has Michael Fassbender attached to star.
Justin Kurzel is an Australian film director and screenwriter, who is best known for
Snowtown Murders (2011), The Turning (2013) and
Blue Tongue (2005). Wait a second, you probably don't know any of those films. Okay, but know this, Michael Fassbender ("X-Men: First Class") and Kurzel recently worked together on a new retelling of
Macbeth, which also stars Marion Cotillard ("The Dark Knight Rises").
Out, damned spot! Out, I say!
Assassin's Creed is a 2007 sandbox style action-adventure-stealth video game developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2007 and for PC in April 2008. The game centers around the use of a machine dubbed the "Animus", which allows its user to view the genetic memories of his or her ancestors, centering around the protagonist, a bartender named Desmond Miles. As Desmond relives the memories of one of his ancestors, the Assassin Altaïr Ibn-La'Ahad who lived in the Holy Land during the Third Crusade, details of a battle between two ancient sects – the Knights Templar and the Assassin Order – emerge as both scour for an artifact known only as a "Piece of Eden." - assassinscreed.wikia
