Ken Featured In New STREET FIGHTER: ASSASSIN'S FIST Image

As we draw closer to the reveal of actual footage from Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist, here's a new look at Ken Master as played by actor Christian Howard. Everything look stellar thus far, but when will we see actual footage?

The official twitter feed for Assassin's Fist is labeling this image "Alpha-phase Ken" meaning we should expect to see an older, more polished Ken at some point during the web series. The first trailer/teaser should be released soon.

The story in Street Fighter: Assassin's Fist centers on the master of Ken and Ryu, Gouken, who himself trained under ‘Asatsuken (Assassin's Fist)' grandmaster Goutetsu. Also training under Goutetsu was the legendary Street Fighter villain, Akuma, who is Gouken's brother. In the web series Gouken reflects on how the Asatsuken sent he and his brother down conflicting paths of 'Light' and 'Dark' and whether he should pass along all of its secrets to Ken and Ryu. Will the same split that befell Gouken and Akuma occur with Ken and Ryu?

In addition to portraying Gōki/Akuma, Joey Ansah (The Bourne Ultimatum) served as director and co-wrote the script with Ken actor Christian Howard. Togo Igawa (Memoirs of a Geisha, The Last Samurai) will portray grandmaster Goutetsu. Mike Moh (Kamen Rider: Dragon Knight) plays Ryu. Hal Yamanouchi (The Wolverine) will portray Senzo. Akira Koieyama (Rush, 47 Ronin) plays Gouken. Mark Killeen (Game of Thrones) plays Ken's father.

Yeah, it looks like they enhanced his arm with CGI. That and the wig make him look like an action figure, but, he's my favorite Street Fighter so he gets a pass as long as his portrayal is good...

@SimpleeComplex But it's part of his characterization. Since this is 'Alpha-Ken', he'd cut it by the end of the 'Alpha' timeline. For now, I like the ponytail. :)

@TheRealRemyLebeau they're supposed to look cheap and dirty because the setting is secluded Japanese wilderness, where the gi's and gloves look like they've been worn for so long and been passed on for so many years. :)

@Remy

You didn't like Alpha? Oh man, ilwhen I think about the hours I wasted on that game and I don't regret a second. Lol... What was it about the series that lost you?
SimpleeComplex
SimpleeComplex - 1/25/2014, 7:41 AM
@remy. yeah idk if a game like street fighter which has such a stylized and cartoony look to it can be respectfully adapted w/o looking cheesy. For ex. (Van Dam's Street Fighter ugh) or underwhelming (Kristen Kruk and Neal McDonough's Chun Li flic) or this image here which looks straight out the video game but out of place against a real wilderness backdrop. I was never too good SF games but I always enjoyed the mythos of it. I think some things are left better when they are not given a bigscreen/small screen adaptation. Maybe SF is 1 of those? IDK?

@MexicanSuperman Ken is actually more than half Japanese. This was even mentioned on the Street Fighter II V anime series.
