While on a press tour for his new movie Slow West, Fassbender drops that the long awaited Assassin's Creed movie finally begins filming later this year. When Fassbender was asked about the long process the film has gone through, Fassbender elaborated on some of the personal revelations he has uncovered throughout the film's development.

"You say it’s a long time but what I’ve found, it’s all new to me but starting to develop scripts and work on them, they take time. It just takes time to get a good story together and we really want to do it right. It’s exciting." He continued to bring up the beginning of the filming process as well. "It’s going to start this year, we’ll be filming in September"

As the interview continued, a statement made with the assumumtion that the role Fassbender would be playing was Desmond Miles, who has been long speculated as the primary protagonist for this film, Fassbender was quick to reply, "You don't know that". When Fassbender was told that this information is what us fans have heard is the case, he coyly replied again "Don't listen to what they tell you. That's the first rule" Does this mean we won't be getting Desmond Miles right off the bat? Considering there have been numerous games with multiple main characters to choose from, Fassbender expands on the selection of choices there are and different routes this film can adapt from.

"That’s always the challenge of something that’s so dense, to really find something and pare it down and basically, there are so many elements to it, so trying to translate that to an audience, you have to pick key things. So yes, that is part of it, getting through the density of it and paring down and engaging a simple story.

So if not Desmond Miles in this go round, who do you think Fassbender will be portraying? Early rumors had mentions of Fassbender playing two characters: One in the present day named Michael Lynch and one in the past an assassin named Aguilar de Agarorobo. The past setting would be during the time of the Spanish Inquisition. Would you enjoy this version or prefer they keep inline with the first game, or go full regalia and do an adaptation of Black Flag featuring Edward Kenway? Speak on it in the usual place.

Assassin's Creed will reunite Fassbender with his Macbeth co-star Marion Cotillard and that film’s director Justin Kurzel. The movie is set for release dated on December 21, 2016
