Scott Frank Rewriting Michael Fassbender Led ASSASSIN'S CREED
Screenwriter Scott Frank (The Wolverine, Minority Report) is currently rewriting the script for 20th Century Fox's Assassin's Creed, which has Michael Fassbender attached to play the lead.
Scott Frank has revealed that he’s currently rewriting the script for Fox and Ubisoft Motion Picture's Assassin’s Creed. While talking about his work on The Wolverine, Frank disclosed, “I’m rewriting Assassin’s Creed right now, and what I love about it is that I’ve never adapted a video game before and it has its own set of challenges. Especially in the world of rewrites, I love trying to do something completely different if I can.”
There’s no word on the identity of the first writer to tackle the Assassin’s Creed script.
In an effort to escape the trend of terrible video game movies, Ubisoft Motion Pictures has retained 100% creative control on all their feature films. However, it appears Fox's preference at least played a small part in Frank’s hiring as his filmography is full of projects that he’s worked on for the studio. No word yet on who's directing the film but Frank also has some directorial experience. Is it possible that not only is he rewriting the script, he’s also in line to direct? Assassin’s Creed is set for release on Memorial Day 2015.
