From Crystal Sky Pictures:

Based on the long running and highly successful Namco video game franchise of the same name, TEKKEN is a high-octane, action packed thriller written for the screen by Alan McElroy (Spawn, The Marine) and to be directed by Dwight Little (Anacondas, Murder at 1600) with fight choreography tentatively by Dion Lam (Spider-Man 2, Doom, Red Cliff)

Set in 2039, the film promises non-stop high flying action as the greatest fighters from around the world come to compete in the last and greatest sporting event of all time, the Fist Tournament. After World Wars destroy much of civilization as we know it, the remaining territories are no longer run by governments, but by corporations the mightiest of which is Tekken. In order to keep the masses down, Tekken sponsors the Iron Fist Tournament in which fighters compete to the death for ultimate glory and receive a lifetime of stardom and wealth.

We are introduced to this violent world through the eyes of Jin Kazama, a street fighter that enters the tournament in order to avenge the death of his mother that he blames upon Tekken's powerful and controlling Chairman, Heihachi Mishima. He knows that the only way to get close enough to Mishima to kill him is to win the tournament. With the help of Lucas, an ageing Iron Fist Champion and fight trainer, Jin makes his way through the tournament, but in doing so, he begins to uncover his own past and inner demons as well as exposing a dark underbelly to Tekken that threatens the very existence of humanity.

With futuristic and imaginative sets, a compelling story, and fight sequences combining fighting styles from all over the world. TEKKEN is in line to become one of the greatest action films of all time.

After 1 DOA, 2 Mortal Kombats and 2 Street Fighters of which only the first Mortal was any good, I will hold my breath until I see this movie. It sounds to good to be true. But if it is really that good, this movie along with Prince of Persia...could this 2 movies open the highway for really good games to movies adaptations?

If this turns out true, I really hope for a good Gothic movie. A man can dream...it's free!

I'll have to agree with Helldemon. This can quite possibly be a crap movie, but video game movies are coming a long way. Hope they don't screw it up.

Besides having the dubious distinction of being based on a video game (and, we all know how that usually turns out), here's the biggest potential problem with this flick: the resume of the director, Dwight H. Little!

Anacondas: The Hunt for the Blood Orchid (2004)
Deep Blue (2001)
Murder at 1600 (1997) (as Dwight Little)
Free Willy 2: The Adventure Home (1995)
Rapid Fire (1992)
Marked for Death (1990)
The Phantom of the Opera (1989)
Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988)
Bloodstone (1988)

@LEE: With the writer in prison for a year I belive it kinda' will be a long time until we will see it on the Huge Screen!

@Brent: Murder I liked. Also liked Anacondas for the visuals but the rest...I hope he does a good job with this movie.

We really need a good game to movie adaptation. I'm sick and tired of poor movies made from games. Why can't we get something along the lines of Aliens from a horror game franchise? Or another LOTR from a fantasy game? Is it really that hard? The source material is already there. All they need to do is to pay a little attention to what they do and put passion into the rest of the project. And no intervention from TPTB. It can not be that hard.
