The Super Mario Bros. Movie has generated a lot of discussion online, and while it boasts an A-List cast, it's Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach who has perhaps received the most love from fans.

The New Mutants and Furiosa star seems like a perfect fit for the beloved video game character, and while we've yet to hear what this version of Mario's greatest love sounds like, something tells us Taylor-Joy will make Peach her own. It also seems as if this role is one that really resonated with the actress.

Over Halloween, Taylor-Joy was transformed into a real-life Princess Peach, and you can check out the photos below.

Needless to say, if we ever get another live-action Super Mario movie (and we're not holding our breath), then The Queen's Gambit star should be any studio's first choice to put their spin on the fan-favourite female protagonist.

The first trailer for Mario's long-overdue big screen return received a mostly positive response following its launch. However, Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt's take on the character has been predictably divisive, with many arguing he basically just sounds like...Chris Pratt.

That's a departure from the video game Mario, though what little we heard did suggest he's added a little flair to the hero. Charlie Day, meanwhile, is going to lend his voice to Luigi, and Seth Rogen has been tapped to star as Donkey Kong.

Directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic (Teen Titans Go!, Teen Titans Go! To the Movies) from a screenplay by Matthew Fogel (Minions: The Rise of Gru), the film also stars Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek, and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to be released in theaters on April 7, 2023.

It's been a bit since I've played a Mario game, but does Princess Peach really wear high heeled combat boots? I don't remember

The trailer was pretty odd. All the Bowser stuff was great, but then I get the feeling they probably picked the most underwhelming Mario scene in the movie to use in a trailer.

It makes sense that they didn't go with a voice like Charles Martinet - his type of delivery works for a video game with minimal dialogue, but it wouldn't work for a movie where Mario actually has to have conversations and express a much broader range of emotions - but at the same time considering how much Chris Pratt hyped up how unique and different his Mario voice was going to be, all we got from that trailer was Chris Pratt doing his normal voice except he emphasized the "-dom" in "Kingdom" at the end of the trailer.

Maybe if the world complains hard enough, they'll recast Pratt.. or we can watch the French dub that actually sounds like Mario!

Still not sure about Mario’s voice but everyone else was great. I don’t think they have showed Peach’s voice yet.
