Actress Nina Bergman recently posted multiple tweets revealing that she's signed the paperwork, and will begin working on a new film with Universal - That new film being an adaptation of the video game Doom.

Check out her first tweet below:

This wouldn't be the first time that Doom has been cinematically adapted. 2005 saw the release of the first attempt at adapting the game. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson and Karl Urban starred in the critical and financial failure - The film was so bad that even its lead actor thinks so.

One fan asked Bergman if this version was looks to be better than the 2005 failure. The actress replied:

With this being the very first we've heard of the film, it leaves you wondering just how closely Nina read all of that paperwork that she just signed - since you'd think that Universal would not be on-board with the movie being announced in such a way.

Assuming these leaks are true; a modern adaptation will most likely focus on the recent, successful reboot of the video game franchise which released in 2016.

What do you think? Does Doom warrant a cinematic adaptation? Could a modern Doom adaptation break the "video-game movie curse"?

Here's the game's cinematic trailer to give you an idea what a movie might look like..

@Nebula - I remember when Sir Peter Jackson was going to do a Halo film/tv series and the whole time I was thinking, why not just have the whole thing animated similar to what you’ve posted.

@ChangAlang - That eventually morphed into a TV show with Steven Spielberg involved.. which is apparently still in development 5 years after it was announced.

@Nebula - i have very little faith in that happening. I think studios sit on a property until some sort of nostalgia sparks worldwide interest in it and they can capitalize on the NOW of the property.

@Nebula - That’s right! Maybe Spielberg’s kids will get to make it one day🤷🏽‍♂️

Would hope for something that quality or better.

I kind of hope we get a first person scene also, was one of my favourite parts ofthe original;

Played the originals and the 2016 reboot/sequel. Enjoyed them as the mindless but challenging fun they mostly are.
If she's gonna be a character from the game, I can only see her as the antagonist, Olivia Pierce.

I’m just glad Dwayne Johnson isn’t attached...to ANOTHER sequel.

Too much Johnson!

And I have no idea who Nina Bergman is but I’ll back this until the end credits😁

@superbigguy32 - short time between reps and them being decently high and weight are 60-70% of max so somewhat buk while it's burning out the build -_- i.e why he had that look in hercules .... so it's like burn out pumps with heavier weights :(

I love the 2016 game so much that I'd gladly welcome another movie. More first person! Literally the only great thing about the first movie lol

@bobevanz - Truthfully...the only way we think a Doom movie could work WOULD be in first person the entire time! Just do what they did with Hardcore Henry and never reveal the Doom Marine's face until the very end...of the TRILOGY!!! Be some crazy shit like Kurt Russell or something.

The first film is a guilty pleasure of mine. Loved the cast and the ending first person sequence, was so awesome when I was younger and watching it in a theater lmao.

Well a) awesome I’d love to see a good Doom movie but b) I don’t understand, they have a script and a director and it’s entering production soon but this is the first we’ve heard of it? That doesn’t sound right at all.

@nebula

you should edit to say

"will most likely focus on the recent, successful reboot of the VIDEO GAME franchise which released in 2016."

As a casual reader, you were talking about the 2005 film that sucked, then 2016 reboot, I was like "huh? I don't remember that movie...." it took me a minute.
