After the release of God of War 3 back in 2010, there have only been whispers and rumors of a possible sequel. Santa Monica Studio has been completely quiet on anything that would suggest that there is a sequel to God of War 3. Fans have been speculating as to where the Ghost of Sparta would head to next after the ambiguous ending of the last game.
Finally, after years of waiting, we now know where Kratos will begin his new and deadly journey. Incredible new concept art from a Santa Monica Studio artist has found its way online, revealing that the next installment of the God of War video game series will have the Ghost of Sparta dive into Norse mythology. Below are some details that were also leaked and deduced from the leaked concept art.
-
Kratos will sport a beard.
-
It will take place in a Norse mythology setting.
-
Kratos will visit Alfheim, “Land Of The Fairies”, one of the Nine Worlds and home of the Light Elves (concepts show the Wall and the Temple Door);
-
Kratos will be in one or more prisons;
-
Kratos wields an Axe, which he can use to cut vines and create bridges/walkways;
-
The surrounding environment could interact with the character (if Kratos brushes-up against the vines, they expell visible spores).
The idea of Kratos finding his way into new mythologies is something that fans did not anticipate. With Kratos jumping from one mythology to the next, what will this mean for the future of the God of War video game series? Are you interested in visiting new mythologies with Kratos? UPDATE: Polygon has reached out to their sources at Sony and have confirmed that the artwork is legitimate.
