UPDATE: VIDEO GAMES: Possible First Picture For ASSASSIN'S CREED III Takes The Franchise To The American Revolution?

Kotaku got this picture from what appears to be the third Assassin's Creed game, apparently this one would be set in The American Revolution. UPDATE: The Official Box Art has been Revealed.

This picture, which appears to be for Assassin's Creed III, leaked today. Allegedly, this comes from the Best Buy's internal employee news, who emailed Kotaku with this possible art. Apparently, another picture was sent to them, which they have not revealed, saying that Ubisoft will be unveiling the game on March 5, and that there'll be pre-order bonuses.

If this picture happens to be legitimate, it appears that the third game in the series would be set in the American Revolution, as rumored before. In the background of the picture you can see the original Continental flag, the Assassin wearing an 18th-century military jacket, his weaponry, jewellery etc.

UPDATE: Thanks to Game Rant, we have our first look at the official PS3 Art and two other covers from Gameinformer for the game.

Ohhhhhhhhh..... Sweet! Glad they are moving up every 3 centuries, 1200's, 15/1600's, now 1800's! Very cool! I didn't like BrotherHood or Revelations, they got a little repetitive, but I can't wait for this, hope it's real!

Hope this isnt true!

Im so ready to kick ass with Desmond Miles himself in modern times. It would really suck if the story suddenly would take a u-turn and start a new story.

If they must start a new ancestor story base it on the times of Queen Elizabeth I of England and the war with Spain or something.
And like Leonardo Da Vinci in Ezio´s story give Sir. Francis Drake and William Shakespeare cameo roles.

Templars and assassins dont really fit in my opinion to the times of American Revolution.

I've only played the first Assassin's Creed game and I sold it to gamestop before I ever got the chance to beat it. After doing a couple missions, running around and getting stuck on some random mission, I got bored with it. I like the premise of the games but I never played the other games due to me not caring much for the first though it was fun. I think it's gonna be more entertaining in film once Ubisoft film studios and Sony get the ball rolling. Don't worry Ubisoft has complete control. I personally can't wait to go to film school, graduate then hopefully make my version and a true Mortal Kombat film. To me Mortal Kombat is the greatest franchise in gaming history, and the most fun but again that's just me.

The American Revolution would be an excellent continuation of this story and I do hope that it is true. Especially if a lot of it took place in England. With the Enlightenment era and the idea of a free society where the purpose of the government is to protect the freedoms of the people and not control them... as well as the founders' involvement with Secret Societies and esoterica. This could be very cool if true.

i hope its way better than the last ones (that were already great), mostly on the graphics, so we can see a total diference between the 2nd and the 3rd.
