In Guardians of Middle-earth, gamers team up as the most powerful heroes from the greatest fantasy epic of all time, bringing up to 10 players together in a competitive multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game. Featuring tie-ins to the upcoming film, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, the game allows players to develop and master more than 20 iconic characters. Play as Gandalf, Gollum, Legolas, Sauron and more, forming memorable and unlikely alliances with and against friends. Gamers will have the ability to connect with other players via an in-game voice communication system, as well as access to a comprehensive online stat and leader board system where they can track friends’ victories and defeats, and more. Available December 2012 at select retail stores and via download for Xbox LIVE Arcade for Xbox 360 and PlayStation Network; rated T for Teen.

Guardians of Middle-earth will be available for download on the PlayStation Network and Xbox LIVE Arcade for the Xbox 360 on December 4th. Post-launch, extensive downloadable content will also be available digitally, and a hard copy of the game can be purchased from select retailers in the UK and US.

@Mr Sunday: I’ve still got all of the xbox LOTR games and Return is definitely the best! I’m saving them to play through with my son in a few years.

I don't think I've ever seen a good Lotr game besides for Return of the king on PS2 and Battle for Middle-Earth 1, 2 and the expansion:
"The Lord of the Rings, The Battle for Middle-Earth II, Rise of the Witch-King"

But that's a bit long, let's call it "TLOTRTBFMEIITROTWK" from now on.

Are you guys forgetting the Third Age turn-based RPG? It was solid and one of my favorite LOTR games.

Also, I know they are using the movies as reference, but why do they continue to make Legolas blonde? As a fan of the books it drives me insane.
