VIDEO GAMES: The BATMAN: ARKHAM Series Teases Big Announcement. Is It The Next Installment?

The Batman: Arkham series is teasing a big announcement on New Year's Eve. Will the next installment in the Batman video game series be revealed? Will Rocksteady Studios be at the helm?

Prior to Batman: Arkham Origins, it was teased that Rocksteady Studios would be working on a "Silver Age" Justice League video game. Given the art deco style of the teaser promo art, that could very well be what will be announced on New Year's Eve. Visit fb.com/BatmanArkham on December 31 to see just what will be revealed.

Batman: Arkham is a series of action-adventure video games based on the DC Comics character Batman developed by Rocksteady Studios. The latest installment, the third in the series, was developed by Warner Bros. Games Montréal for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Legendary Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy stated at the 2013 Dallas Comic Con that he had been working on "the next Arkham" video game, leading to rampant speculation that he would reprise his role as Batman in "Arkham Origins" however, Roger Craig Smith voiced a young Batman in the prequel. This meant that Conroy was actually working on an as-yet-announced future installment in the series.

Most likely DLC, IGN covered something recently saying there's a storymode DLC due to be released sometime in December, this is probably it, though if not an it's in fact an announcement for some other Arkham we still win, so can't complain lol.

Well my realistic guess is that it's Origins DLC, and there are two likely possibilities; the first is that it's going to have something to do with the Calendar Man due to the hints from the post (Save the date and New Years Eve). The second possibility is that the campaign may be Year 3 for the Arkham verse's Batman. Considering it's the eve before the new year, it seems like a perfect time to announce it. It may actually be a combination of both. We might finally see the arrival and origin of Robin as well.

NOW for my unrealistic guess, Rocksteady's Arkham sequel, fuaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaark.

In preparation for Batman vs. Superman... It would be a great announcement if it was a Justice League game by Rocksteady

The announcement is that the Joker and Batman are going to swap minds for a while. The new titles will be "The Superior Joker" and "Batty-Pants McFart-Face".

Origins is in no way a lesser game in the Arkham series. Critics and fanboys that bitch about that game make me roll my eyes out of the back of my head. The previous two weren't broke, so there was nothing to fix. Was it as good as AC?...no, but it was every bit as good as AA, and definitely had a more epic scope to it than the previous two. I loved the Christmas setting, and persistent snow storm. It really lent the game a great atmosphere. Excellent story, same great game play, cool boss fights,(especially Deathstroke and Firefly)and the awesome new crime scene investigations were great.

It's awesome that ROCKSTEADY is coming back with it, but if it's coming out next year then damn, I want a break from batman games, so I can miss them and when they come back I can enjoy them more. Different of AC and COD which come out every year, I don't want Batman to become that.

Anyway, I'm still excited! Let's see.

There were some heavy rumors that Rocksteady was working on a JL game based in the Arkham world.

Interesting.

@Prime - There's never been a good Superman game, so your "do something else" comment makes no sense. I would actually prefer the announcement be a Superman game, which would no doubt be fantastic in Rocksteadys hands.
Chances are though it'll be the Silver Age JL game thats been rumored for some time now, and that sounds awesomesauce to me.

I'll settle for them finally releasing a patch for the "Corrupt Save" glitch which is preventing me from finishing this otherwise decent game.

Has anyone ever made this big a deal about DLC before? Aside from the Blizzard, PC games like Diablo or StarCraft, most games don't make giant presentations about DLC.

I find it hard to believe that they would just announce a new DLC mode.

I'm hoping this is the Silver Age Justice League game that was supposed to show Batman's first encounter with them. I really hope, but I don't know. They haven't exactly made any news or comments about that in a very long time.

It's [frick]ing DLC. This is the market now, you pay full price to get half a game, if you can call Batman: Shock Gloves a game.
