VIDEO GAMES: Watch Sony's PLAYSTATION 4 Announcement In Full

Sony today officially announced that the PlayStation 4 will be released this Christmas. After the jump, you'll find their presentation in full, including gameplay footage from the likes of Destiny, Killzone: Shadow Fall, Infamous: Second Son and more!

The console itself still hasn't been revealed, but we do know that the PlayStation 4 will be available to buy sometime this Holiday season. The powerful new console will have a controller that has several new features, including a touchpad, motion sensors, and a "share" button which will allow gamers to record gameplay in order to upload it online. It will also be possible to stream games to the PlayStation Vita, although the system will NOT be backwards compatible with PS3 releases. Cloud based technology will also play a big role in the PlayStation 4. As well as their own games, Bungie revealed Destiny, Blizzard unleashed Diablo III and Ubisoft impressed with Watch Dogs. Not in a rush at all. I'll just wait for 2-3 months after the release and get it on QVC with about 4-5 easy payments. That's how I got my PS3.

There is no backwards compatibility through old discs however there is backwards compatibility through playstation cloud where you can stream games and allows you to play ps1,2 and 3 titles

You know what would get my sale? If the network could register what ps3 games were in my library and let me download it free to the ps4. But that ain't happening. I'll stick with my ps3 for awhile thank you

The playstation 3 started off backwards compatible. They took it out cause people kept buying the playstation 2 versions and not the playstation 3 games cause of the cost. I dont think that will be a problem here cause they probably wont release two versions of the same game. My playstation only gets used as a blue ray player now, I do all my gaming on my x box. But if my ps3 takes a poop, and I get the new system, will I be able to put my games in the system and play them, or do I have to purchase them again to download? That is the question.

some interesting looking games there,over the years i've owned many consoles sega megadrive,sega saturn,sega dreamcast,super nintendo,nintendo 64,nintendo gamecube,xbox,xbox 360,sony playstation 1,2 & 3.

so i will probably own a playstaion 4 & whatever mircosoft release xbox wise,so i can get the best games from both platforms.

none of this playstation is better than xbox bullshit or vice versa.

So they announced the PS4 without even SHOWING the console?!lol

It has some great features but as much I'm interested in this, i'm sticking with Microsoft. #TeamXbox.lol Who knows, I might own both.

Plus, I might wait a couple of months after it's released anyway to buy it.
