Ubisoft are taking an active role in the development of the Assassin's Creed movie, and the franchise's Head of Content Aymar Azaizia took to Twitter to answer fan questions today, shedding some new light on how the project will tie into the video games and much more. The main highlights can be found in the Tweets below, and his answers are sure to come as welcome news to those of you who have played any of the games in the popular series. Based on how those have all linked to each other, we're sure to get at least a mention of the likes of Altair and Ezio.

In the movie, Michael Fassbender will play Callum Lynch in the present day and his ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th Century Spain. Joining him will be Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises), while Justin Kurzel (Macbeth) is directing. Assassin's Creed has been lined up for release on December 21st, 2016. Are you looking forward to more video game adaptations over the next few years?

Getting pretty excited. Glad it isn't a straight up adaption, but connecting them within the continuity of the games is smart.

There goes half of my interest, f*cking shite! I'll probably watch it because of the cast and Director.

Can anyone remember a single good video game based movie? Even though video game movies are usually(always) shit, I have to say that Warcraft and especially this look like they could break the curse.

Hopefully it's as successful as Hitman Agent 47 was.

No matter how shit Agent 47 and the rest of the arse video game movies, I'm still very hyped for this movie. Fassbender is an amazing actor and I'm really looking forward to this movie.

@Odin

In my opinion the only good adapted video-game into a movie is Silent Hill; it followed part of the story-line, had good dialogue, acting, special effects and the mood was just like the game.

One of my favorite horror movies and also my favorite video-game movie

unfortunately Silent Hill 2 was not directed by the same amazing director and it went down hill faster than the resident evil movie series tho

This might actually be good. Great director, story and cast makes this a must-watch.
Smart move to make this an original story, no need to have fanboys shouting at how it isn't accurate.

Top 3 video-game movies:

1.-Silent Hill
2.-Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
3.-Mortal Kombat

I did not do a top 10 because frankly there are not that many good movies that deserve to be on a top 10 list. I would give special mention to

-Final Fantasy The Spirit Within (that movie was awesome even tho it did had nothing to do with the games)
-Tomb Rider Lara Croft 1 and 2 (Just cause Angelina Jole at that time was the most beautiful woman in the world )

What do you guys think?

Im glad there not sticking with Desmond's story. Though I'm not quite tired of it yet, we have seem plenty of that as is. Cant wait to see where this goes. Also, there have been plenty of good video game movie adaptations. No critically acclaimed classics but good stories.

sounds promising looking forward to it. Video games can easy be made in to movies you just need good writers and someone take it seriously and who cares about the property just like anything else's.

@Dandy

I love with a passion Silent Hill but I have to agree with you that it is not legitimately good : (

Although I would never ever re watch not even drunk any of the Resident Evil movies, those are so bad... I never understood why they make so much money.

Fassbender is too good to put his talents into a shit film. The director is amazing and the cast has Cotillard and Fassbender who are both doing Macbeth, and the director. Macbeth is getting maaaaaaaaaaaad oscar buzz. I'm hyped

I prefer the computer animated Resident Evil (two movies I think?) ones, they are so much better and follow closely the games. The live action movies I just can't stand. I tolerate the first one, It was my last movie on before I completed my engineering degree so I tolerate that one more because of nostalgia.

I have high hopes for this movie. I have yet to watch something awful from Fassbender (I know I know that many disliked Prometheus but I liked it)

I think Ubisoft confirmed that when they announced the movie. It's why they're not adapting one of the games themselves.

This is probably one of my most pumped films of 2016. Don't have a list but films I'm most excited for are....

BvS
