HARRY POTTER Star Daniel Radcliffe Slices Down WOLVERINE Casting Rumors: "I Don't Know Anything"

Despite being best known for playing the Boy Wizard in Harry Potter, Daniel Radcliffe remains a fan-favourite choice to play Wolverine in the MCU. The actor, however, isn't convinced he's the right fit...

With the X-Men set to be rebooted for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, all eyes are on who Marvel Studios chooses as the new Wolverine. There are lots of characters to be excited about, of course, but James "Logan" Howlett remains the most popular mutant and the potential for solo and team-up adventures in the MCU moving forward is undeniably massive.

A few different names have been suggested as Hugh Jackman's successor (Taron Egerton remains a fan-favourite pick), and Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe just so happens to be among them. He's an unlikely choice on the surface, but one whose name we keep seeing pop up online.

Talking to Phase Zero at the SXSW premiere for The Lost City, Radcliffe finally addressed the rumours head-on. "So many people come up to me like, 'Hey man, I heard the Wolverine news, that's really cool.' And I'm like, 'Mate, it's not, I don't know anything about it.'"

"Like, I appreciate that somebody has clearly gone, 'Wolverine is actually short in the comic books, we should get a short guy to do it.' But I don't see them going from Hugh Jackman to me afterwards, but who knows," Radcliffe admitted. "Prove me wrong, Marvel."

While we're sure there are many comic book characters who would be a good fit for Radcliffe, Wolverine doesn't seem quite right. Either way, Marvel Studios' plans for the character remain a mystery, and we have no idea if Kevin Feige and company have even started eyeing actors to play that clawed hero or any of his fellow mutants. For now, the Fantastic Four reboot seems a bigger priority.

Do you think Radcliffe would make a good Wolverine?

I'm not so sure he'd be a good choice

@eGGtheGreat - yeah. Outside of being short I really don't get this choice.

@eGGtheGreat - I think if he bulked up, he would make sense visually. However, I’ve never seen him act as aggressively as a Wolverine should. Though that’s not to say he couldn’t. He’s a very talented actor.

@eGGtheGreat - yeah, Logan should have more of a manly face

Would be cool seeing him in the MCU, but not as Wolverine.

Maybe if he gained a hundred pounds. And gained a different face.

I'd rather have a tall Wolverine than a baby face Wolverine. Actually I don't care how tall Wolverine is to begin with.

@Fares - Just depict him as short (even if the actor technically isn't).

Being the pint-sized powerhouse has always been one of Wolvie's defining attributes.

@EskimoJ - It would definitely be funny if it's noticeable on screen. And if we're really getting a short Wolverine, just cast Danny Devito. It's really a no brainer.

@EskimoJ - LoTR did it 20 years ago. They can do it if they want.

I can’t see it at all. But hey, if Robert Pattinson can become an excellent Batman, you gotta give a bit of pause for Radcliffe as Wolverine.

There will always be a bit of controversy with characters that have a big following. Remember when Hugh Jackman was cast as Wolverine in 1999? The comic book fandom lost its mind (in a bad way, of course). 1) Jackman was an Australian, 2) he’s too clean cut, 3) he’s known more for his musical theatre work, and 4) he’s over 6’ tall. Nobody thought Jackman would be a good Wolverine. We now know it turned out well in the end.

@2050 - ...except this isn't even a choice knowingly considered by marvel. Literally the only news here is that some fans want it.

Daniel Radcliffe is a terrible actor.

He's been poor in every thing I've ever seen him in.

Is he a better choice than the dude from Kingsmen?

@WruceBayne - while I don't see him as being good for the role either, that's still a better choice than Radcliffe.
