With X-Men: First Class filming soon and plans already set in stone for a prequel to the original three movies, I'm honestly scared for a movie about our favorite Merc with a Mouth. The reason I'm so scared is because FOX decided to continue where they left off with the past X-Men movies. If you take into account the abomination that was X-Men Origins: Wolverine you have a recipe for disaster waiting to happen.
What I mean is that since FOX decided to keep First Class in continuity with X-Men 1-3, what is stopping them from making a Deadpool movie in the continuity of Wolverine? Nothing, and that is my point. At this point it would be pretty hard for them to turn that ship around from where its going, which is a super powered Barakapool movie! We as fans know the difference between Deadpool from the comics, the badass killer, and Barakapool from Wolverine, the melting pot of multiple mutants. When all of us are wanting a comic book version of this great character, we will most likely get the horrible version seen in Wolverine.
I know i know, this is really horrible news but we have no control over what FOX does and instead of the original First Class team we are getting another screwed up version of random characters stuffed into a movie with an X-Men title. The worst part is that a Deadpool movie done well would be a huge success, but sadly FOX does not care about the fans and has backed themselves in a corner.
I personally would rather a Deadpool movie never happen then get raped by FOX again. I know that many hope that this movie would be awesome, which it still could be if they dont continue with what they are doing, but the reality is that FOX want continuity in their movies and that simply means X-Men Origins: Barakapool will most likely be what ends up being produce, that is if it ever takes off.
Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I'm looking into this way too hard. Maybe FOX aren't a bunch of morons. But I'm not holding my breath.
