Hu's that bad girl
X-Men's Deathstrike signed for sequel
-- Calgary Sun HOLLYWOOD -- Kelly Hu may be clawing her way into another fantasy adventure movie.
In X2: X-Men United, Hu plays Lady Deathstrike, the steel-clawed nemesis of Wolverine (Hugh Jackman).
"My contract was for two films, but we'll have to wait and see what happens when people actually sit down to write the next one," says Hu, who starred in the TV series Nash Bridges and Martial Law and opposite The Rock in The Scorpion King.
Hu is also waiting to see a screenplay for Jade, the superhero film she has signed to make for Gale Ann Hurd, the producer of such films as Aliens and Armageddon. "Jade is a 1,000-year-old vampire who knows martial arts. She has a cool side-kick who is a goblin. Jade is based on an old Chaos comic."
Hu is eager to make sure Jade has dialogue in her film because the actress is not too eager to do another silent character.
Lady Deathstrike does not speak.
"It's really hard for me to play a character without dialogue because I talk so much in real life. I'm a real motor mouth."
With X2: X-Men United setting box-office records around the world, there's little doubt a second sequel is in the works. Hu thinks Fox should make X-Men The Musical.
"Hugh Jackman, Ian McKellen, Patrick Steward and James Marsden were always singing show tunes on the set in Vancouver. Seeing them singing away in their costumes, I kept imagining us doing an X-Men musical."
