Hugh Jackman to Host the Tonys

Hugh Jackman, the stage and screen star who is set to make his Broadway debut this coming fall in the new musical The Boy from Oz, has been announced as host of the American Theatre Wing's 2003 Tony Awards® telecast.

The internationally-acclaimed Australian-born actor's other stage credits include his Olivier Award-nominated performance as Curly in Trevor Nunn's revival of Oklahoma! in London's West End and the Australian productions of Sunset Boulevard and Beauty and the Beast. He can currently be seen in X-Men 2 and is in production in the title role of Stephen Sommers' Van Helsing, which will be released in the Summer of 2004. He received a Golden Globe nomination this past year for his performance in the romantic comedy Kate & Leopold. Other film credits include X-Men, Someone Like You and Swordfish. He recently appeared in a concert version of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Carousel at Carnegie Hall opposite three-time Tony winner Audra McDonald, as part of the Richard Rodgers Centennial.

Among the stars scheduled to present awards on this year's telecast are Sarah Jessica Parker, Matthew Broderick, Barbara Walters, Tyne Daly, Danny Glover, Christopher Reeve, Laurence Fishburne, Vanessa Redgrave, Lynn Redgrave and Joey Fatone. Check back soon for updated presenter info.
