On November 25th, 2004, one of the best films of the summer becomes one of the must-have DVDs to add to your collection: X2 X-Men United.

In this rare sequel which actually improves upon the original, Professor Xavier's team of X-Men find themselves in the unlikely position as allies with Magneto and his team of Mutants, who must fend off a diabolical attempt by a renegade Special Ops General to eliminate Mutants from the face of the earth.

Marvel and 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment have gotten with the program and created what should be the definitive edition of X2: X-Men United such that there will be no need of an additional installment of this DVD like they did with X-Men 1.5

An overview of this two-disc mutant x-travaganza will prove hard to resist.

Disc one contains the movie, which comes in both Widescreen (aspect ratio 1:33:1) and FullScreen with English DTS 5.1, English 5.1 Dolby Digital, French and Spanish Surround Sound.

The first "X-Men" DVD release lacked a commentary track but as i've said, 20th Century Fox has gotten with the program this time and did not repeat their earlier mistakes. On the first track Director Bryan Singer and Cinematographer Thomas Sigel discuss the movie. Audio Commentary Track Two features Producers Lauren Shuler Donner and Ralph Winter, along with screenwriters Michael Dougherty, Dan Harris and David Hayter.

DISC 2

1) Eleven deleted/extended scenes.
2) Twenty-six still galleries
3) Theatrical trailers
4) "Nightcrawler Attack" multi-angle scene study
5) Wolverine/Deathstrike fight rehearsal. In depth, behind-the-scenes analysis
6) "The Second Uncanny Issue of X-Men: Making of X2" A one-hour, behind-the-scenes look at the movie from all angles.

7) Featurettes: "The Secret Origin of X-Men" (Stan Lee and Chris Claremont give you an overview of the characters from their inception in the 1960s right up until the first movie), "Nightcrawler Reborn", "The Adventure Before X2" and more...

8) FX2: Visual Effects Guide.

9) "Evolution In The Details" Production Designer Guy Dyas takes you on a guided tour of the sets. Dyas gives an in-depth presentation of the design of the movie.

10) "United Colors of X" w/Costume Designer Louise Mingebach presenting the wardrobes from the film.

11) "Requiem for Mutants: The Score of X2" w/composer John Ottman; an eleven-minute segment for fans of movie scores.

12) "X2 Global Webcast Highlights" features a number of interviews with the cast excerpted from the live webcast of the movie premiere.

And guess what VHS buyers get? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING! Okay, not really. They do get "never before seen footage" and four deleted scenes. But really, if you don't have DVD in this day and age you just aren't "with it".
