A remake of the classic 1959 film Ben-Hur is on the way from MGM and it seems a director has been chosen! Reported by Deadline.com WANTED and ABRAHAM LINCOLN:VAMPIRE HUNTER director Timur Bekmambetov is now in talks to direct the remake for MGM. It is said in quote "The new adaptation will be more faithful to the book while taking elements from the original William Wyler directed film."

It seems Timur Bekmambetov has some giant footsteps to follow as not only the 1959 version of the classic tale Ben-Hur but also adapted as in a 1925 silent film. Who knows if negotiations will go but time will tell.

NO, NO, NO, NOPE, NO, NO, NO, NOWAY, NO, NOPE, NOPE....even the idea of remaking BEN-HUR kills me on the inside, it is the definition of a classic, and a remake could never do the original justice, I am going to pretend I didn't read this, and hope to never here news about this EVER again!!!

I'd bet they don't have the scene in the remake where Jesus is giving Ben-Hur water.

Did no one but myself like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter? I thought it was awesome.

As a matter of fact, I'm starting to believe that, that was closer to how his life was really like rather than that snooze-fest, Lincoln, was all about.

=D

what kind of twisted mind have decided to go MGM (finally rising up from the 2010 bancruptcy) and persuade them to throw like 150 million dollars ( just guessing, maybe more) into the Ben Hur remake ?!

"The new adaptation will be more faithful to the book while taking elements from the original William Wyler directed film."

I think they said the same kind of thing about "Total Recall" remake ... (still haven't watch it though)
