Marvel fans have had massive LEGO versions of The Daily Bugle, Avengers Tower, and S.H.I.E.L.D. Helicarrier in recent years, leaving little room for DC Comics readers to bring that world to life in brick form.
The Arkham Asylum LEGO set is impressive, but 2027 will finally see Superman get his due. According to a new leak, next year is going to feature the release of a LEGO Daily Planet, made up of approximately 2,981 pieces and retailing for around $300.
LEGO is said to be targeting a July 1 launch, meaning this will land right in time for next summer's Superman sequel, DC Studios' Man of Tomorrow.
While the LEGO Daily Planet is based on the comics, it seems to be pulling quite a bit of inspiration from the DCU. That's apparent from the Minifigure lineup, which includes Justice Gang members Guy Gardner, Hawkgirl, Metamorpho, and Mister Terrific, along with villains like Lex Luthor and Brainiac. Supergirl and Krypto are also included.
We don't have a first look at the set yet, but a first look will likely be leaked online at some point in the coming months. Regardless, this is exciting for DC fans, and the hope now is that The Daily Planet will eventually be followed by Wayne Tower and the Hall of Justice.
In Man of Tomorrow, Superman will be forced to team up with Lex Luthor to battle Brainiac, a threat not just to Metropolis but to the entire world.
Written and directed by James Gunn, the movie stars include David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Frank Grillo as Rick Flag, Sr., Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, and Milly Alcock as Supergirl.
Andre Royo, Matthew Lillard, Sinqua Walls, and Adria Arjona will also star. However, as we mentioned above, we still don't know whether the latter is playing Maxima or Wonder Woman. There's also speculation that Eva De Dominici is playing one of the characters, and there's always a chance the Diana Prince rumblings don't pan out. We'll have to wait and see.
Man of Tomorrow arrives in theaters on July 9, 2027.
