Speaking with MTV News about his upcoming film Kill The Messenger, the two-time Academy Award nominated Jeremy Renner spent a few minutes explaining how he got involved in so many action franchises after signing up to play Hawkeye in The Avengers

Following his first appearance as Hawkeye in 2011's Thor, Renner went on to star in Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol, The Avengers, The Bourne Legacy, and Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters. He is also set to reprise his previous roles in Avengers: Age of UltronMission: Impossible 5The Bourne Legacy 2, and possibly in Captain America 3 & Hansel & Gretel 2.

Check out the video below where he shares a story about how superstar Tom Cruise & director J.J. Abrams played a big part in recruiting him to the Mission: Impossible franchise and how that eventually led to him signing up for Bourne and Hansel & Gretel. Another interesting tidbit from the interview is that he may have revealed how many films he's signed up for, saying that he signed up for three Mission: Impossible films and possibly seven films in the Marvel universe!

7 Hawkeye appearences? So we have seen 2 of 7 with AoU being the 3rd, Cap 3 being the 4th, Avengers 3 being the 5th leaving 2 more appearances in the MCU. Sounds like they might let him take one of those as a TV cameo since his schedule is actually one of the busiest of the cast.

Tom Cruise wanted another actor around the same height or shorter than him. And RDJ wanted the same too.

Renner is one lucky guy. After all these franchises he doesn't have to work ever again. And fun interview.

@Nomis

Universal are planning to bring Damon's Bourne back along with Renner's. How that is going to work I don't know.

Hawkeye in 7 movies?? Im ready!

Would be awesome to see him in Avengers 4 and 5, when maybe the big 3 wont appear, so woul be nice to have a few of original avengers, Jeremy and Mark Ruffalo.

@gambgel

agreed. a lot of ppl worry about age, but even by then im sure those guys will be fine. in Hollywood 50 is the new 30. plus they did a great job at taking rdj's wrinkles away during the iron man 3 flash back. ruffalo and renner returning as original members would be badass.

He is legally binded to appear in 7 (or whatever the number may actually be) more MCU films, if that's what's asked of him. It doesn't confirm nor deny the number of appearances the character of Hawkeye will make.

7 Marvel films. That means he's got what 5 left. Lets see he was in Thor, & Avengers so far. He'll be in AOU, Cap 3, & A3. That means 2 other movies, possibly another in Phase 3. Wow I didnt think Hawkeye would survive that long.

So far he's been in avengers one, avengers age of Ultron, Thor, Cap America three and possibly see him again in an avengers four type film and maybe a secret avengers film.
