BLADE RUNNER 2049 Breakout Sylvia Hoeks Eyed To Play Tara Chace In Ridley Scott's QUEEN AND COUNTRY

Blade Runner 2049 actress Sylvia Hoeks is reportedly in talks to play the lead role of Tara Chace in Ridley Scott's planned adaptation of Greg Rucka's acclaimed spy comic, Queen And Country.

According to That Hashtag Show, Hoeks is currently the front-runner, although it doesn't sound like anything is set in stone just yet.

Here's how the live-action take on Miss Chace is described in the report:

"A brilliant and emotionally detached woman who was raised by her father in the Scottish wilderness. Chace is recruited out of Cambridge to join MI6. She specifically becomes a “Minder,” a group of three super-elite assassins with a very low life expectancy. After her closest associates are killed and her superiors betray her, she finds herself alone on a mission to take down a terrorist cell in Saudi Arabia."

Back in 2013, X-Men actress Ellen Page was in line to play Chace in an earlier incarnation of this project, but talks have clearly fallen through since then.

Hoeks played fearsome Replicant Luv in Denis Villeneuve's follow-up to Scott's sci-fi classic, and will next be seen in The Girl in the Spider's Web.

Great book. Not sure how it will translate to the screen, though.

@crawley - The british show "Spooks" was basically it, and it was great in the first and second season. It is a great book.

She was very good in what I thought was a very mediocre Blade Runner 2049.

@Forthas - she was so unsettling in the role

@knocturnalzen10 - Agreed! She had a subtle "evil" to her character that hinted of a tragic desire to be the best replicant to Niander Wallace. Really understated and like you put it a very unsettling performance!

I posted twice about people with seizures avoiding the film because of certain sequences, and they were deleted.

@Battabing - That is so strange, it would seem like it would be something that people should be aware of if they suffer from such a thing. I never understand the rhyme or reason why some things get deleted on this site and other things don't!

@FunkyCipher - What is the Off topic mark?
Forthas
Forthas - 6/19/2018, 11:01 AM
@ExpertlyMediocr - I think at this point casting should be logical. For example in Denis Villeneuve's upcoming Dune film...I am hoping that he casts the Fremen as people of color given they live in the desert.

I will eat my hat if anyone other than a white or fair-skinned female gets the role of Ariel. It just won't happen. So "consider" actresses of color for publicity all you want, Disney. Ariel will be a white ginger woman or The Little Mermaid is DOA.

Now, any other studio? Go for it.
Battabing
Battabing - 6/19/2018, 12:08 PM
@ExpertlyMediocr -
I would actually cast Henry Cavill as Prince Eric.

@ExpertlyMediocr -
Yes, but Ariel is a Disney character, and perhaps the most famous Disney princess, second to Belle. They make oodles of cash on Ariel as she has been depicted for over 20 years.
They're not going to race bend her. Ever.

Well, Blade Runner was all about the plot and the way the characters played their parts in the film. That and the fact that Mr. Scott knows how to develop his ideas and not schemes.

I really liked Blade Runner and I look forward to what he and this new cast will bring to the table.

@Forthas - it’s less than $400,000 away from becoming the 3rd film in history to cross the $700m mark, but it’s not going to make it without a bump of some sort.

Crossing that mark is at least as meaningful as AWIT getting to $100m as opposed to $97m.

I've never read the book but just make it believable if she is to be fighting a bunch of dudes bigger than her. I still cringe over the fact that they wanted me to believe that Zoe Saldana was a regular non enhanced in any way woman beating the shit out of grown ass drug runners in Columbiana when she looked like she weighed like 90lbs soaking wet.

@LongMayHeReign - Depends on the fighting, sometimes you can use the enemies on strength against them, something I have always wanted.

I liked her in BR. I actually think it might be harder for an actor to play cold an emotionless at times than it is to play out the emotional characters. Humans are empathetic to the core, and I really senses no expressions of empathy or really any feelings at all from her. If she played cards that would be one hell of a poker face. Poke her face haa....had to say that, and now i have to say "liquor in the front, poker in the rear" or whatever order of that you prefer
