BOX OFFICE: SKYFALL Takes #2 In North America While RISE OF THE GUARDIANS Disappoints

There were no major new releases at the North American box office this weekend, meaning that holdover The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 held on to the top spot with $5.4 million yesterday and a predicted weekend total of $16.5 million. In comparison, Skyfall was in second place with $4.8 and $16.2 million, giving it a domestic cume of $245.7 million. Meanwhile, DreamWorks Animation's Rise of the Guardians continues to under perform in what Wall Street have declared, "one of the most disappointing releases in the company’s history". So much so, it's actually put a dent in their share price and looks set to earn only $12.2 million this weekend. It was expected to earn upward of $55 million during Thanksgiving, but ended up with only $32.6 million.

The problem with Rise of the Guardians is that I have no idea what the hell it's about. The marketing shows that it's just a movie with Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny, and some other mythical creatures getting together. Beyond that? I don't know.

Cinemascore ratings come from the audience, whereas Critical ratings come from critics. So Critics may have given the last Twilight movie a 'D', but Cinemascore might have a 'B+' because the sample group is made up of creepy obsessed Twilight fans.

It also has a terrible title. Rise of the Guardians?? Really? I'm pretty sure everybody is sick of this "rise" bullsh!t in every damn movie title. Enough already. And "Guardians"? So this is a sequel to that shitty owl movie from last year? That's what I thought the first time I heard it. And the animation looks kinda wonky. Just weird.

after him and angelina hooked up I can't think of a movie of brad pitts I have liked or even been excited about I mean how does a guy who was tyler durden go to being in such sh!t films like Jesse James or Moneyball who gives a f@ck about that crap he has the talent to be the next clint eastwood you know a mans man but he just looks like a Michael Douglas(liberace)kind of guy to me. I would even like a Kalifornia prequel Early Grayce has to be one of his best roles

I just saw The Collection last night. I'm not into the 'Torture-porn' genre but I enjoyed The Collector and The Collection. The Collection has one of the best endings to a horror movie that I've seen.

SHame about ROTG. It was an incredibly well done movie. Beautiful and a great, fun story. BUT it is a very dark movie (for a kids movie).

I love Fight Club as much as the next guy, but Brad Pitt phoned that one in. That's not to say that his performance wasn't good, but it was a typical Brad Pit performance.

Moneyball was a great film, and Pitt put heart into that movie. If you can't see that, I don't know how to help you see it. I never saw Assassination of Jesse James, but I heard a lot of great things about it.

In terms of Killing Them Softly, Pitt's performance does come off as a little average, but I'll reserve my judgement until I see the film.

Rise Of The Guardians was a really good animated movie such a shame it's not making much money. Honestly I thought it was much better than Wreck It Ralph which is a disappoint IMO. Maybe word of mouth and blu-ray and dvd sales will be better.

Skyfall deserves all the praise it's getting although I think the villain was sub-par and not as good as everyone says he is.

Django and The Hobbit are the only other movies I care about this year.

I really liked Skyfall but i think the hype took the edge of it for me. Casino Royale is still my favorite Bond film but Skyfall is a close second based on Silva alone.

@humby just so you understand I like the "typical Brad Pit performance" but he did put his heart into it with moneyball and to me it still sucked but i guess thats why they make movies like that for you. I do want to ask you one thing how do you think his performance comes off as average in Killing them softly and then say that you will wait until you see the film how do you already know its average?

I went to see killing them softly today and it was ok, a very different type of movie. I have seen skyfall twice and I plan on seeing it again before it's out of theaters. One of the best movies to come out this year.

Thoroughly enjoyed Killing them softly, as well as Moneyball. Thought Skyfall was incredibly drawn out though. Maybe theres just something wrong with me though.
