Actor Charlie Day, from "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia", is the latest addition to the cast of Guilhermo Del Toro's sci-fi action movie "Pacific Rim". Day joins Charlie Hunnan, who'll play the lead character Raleigh Antrobus. Idris Elba is also rumored to be in talks to participate of the film.
With a Script written by Travis Beacham ("Clash of the Titans"), "Pacific Rim" is set in the near future, when Earth is attacked by an army of giant monsters from the Underverse, a parallel dimension that has access to our through a portal at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean. In response to this, the government creates the Jaeger Program, in which teams of two soldiers are neurologically connected to skyscrapper-sized robotic equipment to rival the creatures. The movie follows American soldier Raleigh Antrobus, who, after losing his brother and partner, is assigned to join forces with a expendable japanese soldier named Mako Mori.
The movie is set to be released in 2013 and produced by Legendary Pictures. Shooting is scheduled to start this september.
