In the wake of Paramount officially announcing plans for a fourth Kelvin timeline Star Trek film, with negotiations already underway with the main cast of Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, John Cho, and Simon Pegg; the studio has acquired the U.S. distribution rights for another Chris Pine-starrer, The Contractor.
The film, which will open in theaters and on digital on April 1, sees Pine step into the shoes of Special Forces Sergeant James Harper, a soldier who is involuntarily discharged from the Army and cut off from his pension. With few options remaining, he decides to become a contract killer for a private organization, but when things get out of hand on his first job, he's forced to go on the run and fight to survive while trying to find the true mastermind behind his sudden troubles.
In addition to Pine, the cast features Ben Foster, Gillian Jacobs, Kiefer Sutherland, Eddie Marsan, Nina Hoss, Amira Casar, Fares Fares, J. D. Pardo, and Florian Munteanu as Kaufman.
