Rocky is one of the most well-known sports movies of all time. Now it's given the torch to Creed, as Michael B. Jordan plays the son of Apollo Creed, trying to create his own legacy. The first Creed was directed by Ryan Coogler, and the second one was done by Steven Caple Jr. Now it's looking like MGM Pictures wants its main star to not only be in the ring, but behind the camera too.
The report comes from Deadline, and it's pretty hidden with everything else in that article. However, it does say, "While MGM is working on a Creed sequel that Michael B Jordan is considering to direct, and a new creative team is aggressively building a promising slate, Bond remains MGM’s crown jewel."
If this does actually happen, this would be Michael B. Jordan's directorial debut. Talk about a big movie to start off with.
Irwin Winkler (producer of Creed) once said, “I promised Michael B. Jordan that he’d get his chance to direct Creed III. Last year in a conversation with our Creed star Michael B. Jordan, I offered him the opportunity to not only star in, but also to direct Creed III.”
So the foundation is there for him. All that needs to happen is his final decision, along with the studio behind him. Creed III doesn't have a release date yet, but it seems things are moving along quite well.
