It appears Darren Aronofsky chose to target Christians attending this year's Echo conference rather than patrons of San Diego Comic Con in an effort to get the Christian demographic excited for the Bible epic due out March 2014. The Christian audience can have significant impact on movie performance, especially films derived faithfully or loosely from The Bible or addresses Christian subject matter. The last major Biblical movie to be released was Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, which resonated well with Christian audiences.
Attendees of Echo 2013 had a positive response to the screening of the exclusive trailer, some taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.
Aronofsky also shared his excitement regarding the film.
I’m also excited that Hollywood has finally agreed to make the first biblical epic in almost 50 years… It’s been a long time since Bible movies were on the screen, and there’s been a lot of advancements in technology and special effects, and maybe that’s the reason why Noah’s never been attempted on the big screen before because of the size and scale of the deluge and all the different animals…But now, finally, with Hollywood’s help, we can actually do this and bring it to life.
Look for
Noah due out March 28th, 2014.
