Darren Aronofsky Forgoes San Diego Comic-Con to Show Off Noah at Echo 2013

For those of you glued to your computers or lucky enough to attend this year's SDCC, you may have noticed the absence of Darren Aronofsky's Noah. He chose to skip SDCC in favor for Echo 2013, a large church conference held in Texas, where he revealed an exclusive trailer to a very positive audience!

It appears Darren Aronofsky chose to target Christians attending this year's Echo conference rather than patrons of San Diego Comic Con in an effort to get the Christian demographic excited for the Bible epic due out March 2014. The Christian audience can have significant impact on movie performance, especially films derived faithfully or loosely from The Bible or addresses Christian subject matter. The last major Biblical movie to be released was Mel Gibson's The Passion of the Christ, which resonated well with Christian audiences.

Attendees of Echo 2013 had a positive response to the screening of the exclusive trailer, some taking to Twitter to share their thoughts.

Aronofsky also shared his excitement regarding the film.

I’m also excited that Hollywood has finally agreed to make the first biblical epic in almost 50 years… It’s been a long time since Bible movies were on the screen, and there’s been a lot of advancements in technology and special effects, and maybe that’s the reason why Noah’s never been attempted on the big screen before because of the size and scale of the deluge and all the different animals…But now, finally, with Hollywood’s help, we can actually do this and bring it to life.

Look for Noah due out March 28th, 2014.

Directed by Darren Aronofsky
Starring: Russell Crowe
Jennifer Connelly
Emma Watson
Logan Lerman
Anthony Hopkins

Is he forgetting Passion of the Christ? Oh, and Dr. Doom is a wanker.

@TheHeat, I think he's referring more to spectacles like The Ten Commandments, Ben-Hur or The Greatest Story Ever Told.

Also, Passion of the Christ was an independent film financed by Mel Gibson because "Hollywood" would not pay for it. So it actually is the first biblical epic made by "Hollywood" in a long time.

I'm surprised that just because it's based on biblical legends , people think the Christians are going to like it.
Sounds pretty blasphemous, to me,

I'm excited. Don't see all the hate for people because they believe in something you don't... I don't believe in Buddhism but you don't see me calling them "wankers". Or maybe I misunderstood what you said. But whatever.
