Former 007 Pierce Brosnan Backs THOR's Idris Elba & ARROW's Colin Salmon For Bond

Fan-favorite Idris Elba (Thor: The Dark World) may have just received his biggest endorsement yet for the role of 007 - from a former Bond, no less. In a recent interview, Pierce Brosnan gave his thoughts on who should replace Daniel Craig. Check out what he had to say!

Despite claiming not to have given much thought to the identity of Daniel Craig's future replacement as Bond, former 007 Pierce Brosnan did have a few choice words to say about Idris Elba's candidacy. "Yeah he would actually," he told the Radio Times, when asked whether the Thor actor would make a good Bond - before going on to add: "Colin Salmon also. May the best man get the job and may Daniel bring home the bacon for as long as he wants."

There has been a lot of debate regarding Elba and the potential of seeing a new 007 after Daniel Craig's time is up. It appears Brosnan is a fan of the actor, who was voted in as the frontrunner for the role amongst US fans in a YouGov poll back in December. Perhaps more interesting is Brosnan's nod to his former The World Is Not Enough co-star, Colin Salmon - who had a recurring role on The CW's Arrow. Having already played a bit-part role in Brosnan's Bond films as MI6 agent 'Charles Robinson' though, it's unlikely we'll get to see Salmon take the big job.

For now, it's unlikely we'll hear anything new on the subject, given that Daniel Craig still has one more movie to film even after Spectre hits cinemas this November. Are you an Elba supporter, or would you prefer to see a dark horse like Salmon get the gig? As usual, let us know down below!

No black Bond. Should not happen.
Give people of color an ORIGINAL,NEW,FRESH character..that's is what's needed.
Is that so hard? Will there be only a handful of iconic movie heroes because fools keep retreading them?

Can someone photoshop a martini into @tronvin 's photo? I need to get the full effect to make an educated decision, but so far I support Superman as 007.

If he were 10 years older, I'd like it; but the guy is too old now.

That being said, Craig should've left after Skyfall as he's an old ass.

Why is it racist for fans to want their beloved heroes to be as they've always been. Can you imagine the outrage if a new Blade movie was being made and they cast a white actor, how is this different, why don't white characters deserve the same respects when being cast in a movie. It's a disgusting and monumental double standard.

Good stuff Minty!

Once upon a time, fanboys were convinced Daniel Craig couldn't be Bond because of...blonde hair. Idris Elba would be no different.

That said, the ONLY reason Elba shouldn't be Bond is because of his age. Nothing else. If it weren't for that, there's literally nothing holding him back from portraying and awesome, kick-ass Bond.

@Racists

What exactly is so wrong with the idea of having a Black, new variant of the character?

There are not enough young black actors and actresses in mainstream movies. Studios know this, so they try and put more black people in movies (which I want to happen). However, studios are also giant pussies and aren't willing to take risks with brand new characters and stories (hence the CBM trend and movie reboots), so they take white character that already exist and make them black (same thing applies for male characters turned female).

It's all about having balls, and the big studios have none.

Cheers Sauron! :)

Yeah, if we're going to get nitpicky, why don't we just ask why Bond doesn't still look exactly like Sean Connery?

Also, if he were 5-10 years younger, Salmon would have bossed this.

Why not just do a crossover event? Works for everything else(kinda...not really). Why not build Luther up to past his already decent(cult status?)fan base recognition.

No.

If this happens can we get a white dude for MLK?

DlAMONDS apparently thinks James Bond has the exact same racial significance to white people as Martin Luther King, Jr. has to blacks. To put this kindly, this explains so much.

As I've said before, I don't really care that much about James Bond so they can cast whoever they want as him. That said, Henry Cavill matches up quite well with what I think of when I think of James Bond, so I think I'd prefer if he was the next Bond.

Why not a black Indiana Jones too right?...Wrong!
Surely there are talented writers who can create a cool black cinematic hero of some type.

A guy who can become iconic like a James Bond,Indiana Jones, etc.
Hell, for that matter why not a new hero of any ethnic origin other than Caucasian.

I'm a white guy,I like my characters to stay AS ORIGINAL.
Keep em that way but dammit, there needs to be some new stuff..Right Now!

What in their background makes them important to stick to one skin color? Nothing. The main thing is that anyone can ay and become those characters and it keeps going and going smh

@FordEl

To me it's simply the fact that the race has already been established already.
The bigger picture/topic is being ignored..
#1) why isn't there a NEW character that can stand with other movie legend heroes?
#2) why isn't he/she a person of color?
Making an established character black DOES NOT cut it.

I liked a few years back Angelina Jolie's movie,SALT.
Salt was a female, yes she's white but she was badass & I think she could have been a great franchise.
That's an example of what I'm talking about..someone new & not a white guy.
