According to The Hollywood Reporter, Aksel Hennie will star in his first big studio movie alongside The Rock In Hercules, the MGM/Paramount co-produced, Bret Ratner directed adaptation of the graphic novel Hercules: The Thracian Wars. Apparently Hennie will play a character called Tydeus, "a warrior devoted to Hercules who wields twin axes and is such a madman that he needs to be chained up at night when he sleeps". This version of the tale will strip away all of the supernatural elements of the mythology and reimagine Hercules as a mortal warrior with a "fearsome reputation", who leads a group of mercenaries on a mission where all is not what it appears. How exciting! The movie will be produced by Beau Flynn, Barry Levine and Ratner, and executive produced by Peter Berg, Sarah Aubrey and Jesse Berger.

I hate Aksel Hennie. And what the hell is he doing in a film with the Rock?

Fantastic yes but not campy! I fear since this versuion will star the Rock and directed by Brett Ratner. For me I have been waiting for a Hercules movie that has more rugged and brutal action plus good story and awesome effects and epical musical score. Somewhat like Arnold's Conan the Barbarian and not Arnold's Hercules in New York. Also they should take its cue from today's sword and sandals movies like "Lord of the Rings" and "Clash of the Titans".

If he's not the son of Zeus then he's not Hercules. He Conan.

Mark, I don't know if your "How exciting!" was sarcastic, but it had me cracking up regardless.

As a movie patron, I feel "darned if I do / darned if I don't." Basically, I LOVE mythology (I have since I was 9), but obviously the recent TITANS films...disappointed a bit. I can't blame them for going the godless route, but, the 300 route? I mean there is a LOT of awesome legend to harvest there

I think all is lost at the name Ratner(Horrible Bosses gave me a few chuckles, but he was a producer on that). The Rock is good when he's utilized correctly; he has the presence and is begging for a film he deserves. This could be good.., but even with this casting.., that sounds great, I cannot get onboard. If this was a Game of Thrones alum or some other filmmaker's(a filmmaker) project, I'd be getting excited about seeing The Rock wearing a gawdy show-rug for a headdress.

Crap movie, but great cast and cool twist.., wait for it.., wait.., aaaalllllmost there......, wait..., just a little bit: Doom. Yes I said it, Doom. Not that great a movie, but had some cool elements to it and I've always thought Urban had the potential we're now seeing him get.
