With the success of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, it was only a matter of time before Disney turned to their other big Lucasfilm acquisition, Indiana Jones.  Last week, Steven Spielberg and Harrison Ford were confirmed to be returning for a fifth installment, set to be released on July 19, 2019.  According to The Hollywood Reporter, David Koepp, who wrote 2008's Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull will also return to write the script.  Koepp has also written Jurassic Park (1993), Mission: Impossible (1996),  Spider-Man (2002) and Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit (2014).

To be fair to Koepp, he had the unenviable task of trying to cobble together a coherent script for Kingdom of the Crystal Skull from prior drafts written by George Lucas, Jeff Nathanson and Frank Darabont.  This time around, it appears that Koepp will have the freedom to develop his own ideas.

Currently the film is scheduled to go against Inhumans (07/12) at the box office but expect Inhumans to shift to another date.

Ford was a guest on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night and expressed his excitement for the project.

Plot idea...

Mola Ram's son kills Shia

I could use some more "Khali-Ma's Shot de day's" in my life.

@MonsterSquad35 - Dude, you murdered that phrase..HAHA. I'm Indian and the actual phrase is "Kali-Ma, Shakti De" (Oh Goddess Kali, Give me Power!). I'm not a big fan of Temple of Doom because of how bad they portrayed Indians in the film (No, we don't eat beetles, snakes or [frick]ing monkey brains!). Even Spielberg said as much. That said, Amrish Puri as Mola Ram was excellent!

@SpideySupes94 - Get the [frick] out of here! The only reason I want to travel to India is to have monkey brains! And to take drugs in Goa. And to ride in a rickshaw. But most of all, I want to stay in the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel so I can meet my very own Slumdog Millionaire!

"Please write me out of Star Wars. I'm tired of doing all this same old junk"

"Another Indiana Jones? Sure!"

*knows there's more to it/making a joke*

If anything like Crysal Skull then I suggest making the Cross Over movie where Indiana retires and becomes Han Solo at the end.... Its actually a Star Wars prequel.

Harrison will probably want his character to die in this franchise too.

Why?????

I am a huge fan of the Indiana Jones franchise. But Harrison Ford cant do what Indiana Jones used to do in the 80's. And Shia LaBeouf needs to stay as far away from any recording device as possible because he is a walking disaster.

The funny thing is...Harrison Ford was never that athletic looking to begin with. I love the movies, so I can set this tidbit aside, but every time I watch him run or fight....its just soooo awkward looking. That might be the former athlete in me, but he looks as athletic as some of the early Bonds

After watching TFA even though i liked it, i could see his age in his movements. Or like Stick in DareDevil.

That's my only issue is that he'll just look like an old man, granted he is an old man but GericAtion movies tend to be limited in believability. And Indy does high flying whip swings. All of Id 4 was awkward.
