There is a new director at the top of MGM's list for Bond 25. Variety is reporting veteran director Danny Boyle is the favorite to land the job after a change of heart by the studio's brass. While French filmmaker Yann Demange was originally MGM's top choice for the film, the studio is reportedly looking for a more well-known name to helm this movie.

Boyle certainly fits that description, as he has directed a variety of different kinds of films to great success. With movies like Trainspotting, 28 Days Later and the Best Picture-winning Slumdog Millionaire, Boyle is a truly versatile filmmaker. The British director is currently working on Trust, a series about the Getty family that will air on FX.

Boyle has said before that he was interested in making a Bond movie and even directed a short film featuring 007 that was played during the 2012 Olympic opening ceremonies.

This news comes after another star director, Christopher Nolan, confirmed that he was out of the running for the untitled spy film.
