Expect To See More Of Janet Van Dyne When Ant-Man & The Wasp Hits Blu-ray

Image result for janet van dyne ant man and the wasp

Michelle Pfeiffer's Janet Van Dyne was one of the highlights of Marvel's Ant-Man and The Wasp, but she really didn't get much screen-time until the very end of the movie. Fortunately for fans of the character, it sounds like we can expect to see at least a bit more of her once the sequel makes it to home release.

Here's what director Peyton Reed had to say while chatting to Empire on their spoiler podcast.

“We wanted to maintain a little bit of mystery about Janet and what has transpired in the thirty years she’s been down there [in the Quantum Realm] and also the idea she talks about how she’s evolved while she’s down there. We only see a couple of examples of it. There’s a little bit more Janet on the Blu-Ray and DVD release. There will be one deleted scene with Hank and Janet down there, which we just couldn’t find a place for in the movie.”

Deadpool And Thor Exchange Tweets

Well, the actors that play Deadpool and Thor!

Chris Hemsworth sent out a Tweet after his son planted his face into his birthday cake with the candles still lit, tagging Ryan Reynolds and joking that he's now ready to replace him as The Merc with a Mouth.

Reynolds, of course, responded in typical fashion.

New American Horror Story: Apocalypse Teaser

Here we have a striking new promo for the eighth season of FX's American Horror Story, which seems to be directly inspired by a certain episode of Twin Peaks: The Return.

We still don't know much about Apocalypse, but the title and the imagery suggest that it'll focus on the end of the world, possibly resulting from the birth of The Antichrist. It's also been confirmed that this season will be a Murder House and Coven crossover.

Kim Possible will premiere sometime next year.

New Avengers 4 Fan-Art Depicts The Death Of Iron Man

This Avengers 4 fan-art from Ultraraw26 imagines a scenario in which Thanos finishes the job he started in Infinity War and snuffs out Tony Stark. The rather gloomy artwork features Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) cradling her fallen comrade.

Will this happen in the actual movie? Well, a lot of people believe either Stark or Cap (or both) are done for, so it's certainly a possibility.

Apostle will have its world premiere at Fantastic Fest in September before debuting on Netflix on October 12.

Idris Elba Responds To James Bond Casting Rumor

Image result for idris elba james bond

Finally, Idris Elba (Thor: Ragnarok, Luther, The Wire) has send out a couple of Tweets in response to the recent rumor that he's being lined up to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.

The first one was taken as confirmation that he was up for the role by some sites, but had they bothered to check out his follow-up Tweet they'd have realized he was taking the piss.

Does this mean Elba definitely won't be playing Bond? Well, if he is up for 007 he's certainly doing his best to play it down.

@TRexx21 - Daniel Craig is 50. He's already 5 years too old. Idris could only do 1 or MAYBE 2 at the most. I'd love him as M though, that would be great.

TRexx21 - 8/14/2018, 10:15 AM
@Spagett - Ummm where is this age cut off you're coming up with? If he's 50 now that means he did about 2-3 movies being older than 45 and in talks of being in another one at 50...stop trying to put limits on people based off what you feel is an appropriate age. Maybe YOU'RE too old to do these things, but these men are in great shape.

Off topic (although those words on this site are a pet peeve. This truly won’t do on any story in particular). What’s the deal, Wilding on vacation? As much grief as some people give him, he sure keeps the site busy, often writing more stories than all the other editors and user/authors combined.

Idris Elba as a villain? Yes. Idris Elba as Bond? No. I want Bond to stay true to what Ian Fleming intended him to be and how he created him. Honor the movie history and Bond's long legacy. I'm tired of this "We need a black Bond. We need a female Bond." No we don't. If you want a black super, suave spy or a woman spy so badly--- make one. Don't take an existing character and change them for the sake of changing. Just really getting sick of this whether in Hollywood, comics, you name it.

RE: Idris Elba as Bond. That would be fantastic. Hopefully he's just playing it down.

RE: AHS. Can we get confirmation that it's not going to suck as much as the last three seasons? Confirmation of a crossover is not nearly as important as that.

I think that Idris Elba would make a great Bond. He has all the characteristics - charming, good-looking, action-savy, great acting chops, etc. Hopefully he will be the next Bond.

I find it odd (and ignorant) of people saying that he shouldn’t just because he’s black. I’m not saying we need a black Bond or a female Bond. I’m saying he has all the traits of James Bond. He just happens to be black, and so what? The character’s story doesn’t revolve around him being a white guy.

I personally find it ideal that people would see him as next in line as James Bond.

I think 10 or even 5 years ago Idris would have made a great Bond, however I do feel that he is a little too old now. To paraphrase Deadpool, we need to get someone who can support the franchise for a decade or so. Wouldn't that take Idris into his mid/late 50s? I think the current Idris would work, and work well, but I feel that they will be looking for someone 5/10 years younger. I don't feel they should be deliberately looking for a black Bond, but if the right guy came along, why the hell not? It would be past 2020 before the movie came out, not the 1950s when Bond was created.

All race issues people may have with Elba playing Bond aside, the issue is clearly that he's way too old to take over next. Craig is still doing one more, & their rate of making these films has been (at best) every 3-4 years. He would be in his 50s by the time he started.

Almost every single other actor was in his 30s. I'm trying to remember, but I'm pretty sure Moore was in his 40s. Which A: that's still younger than Elba would be, & B: it was painfully obvious that he was way too old for the part for his last few films as 007.

I agree with the suggestion that Elba play a villain. Or I saw someone else suggest that if they really want to diversify, they should show some of the other 00s. I love that idea, especially because it would be completely uncharted territory.

If they did that, they could even show Elba as one of them, near the end of his career as a 00. There really are a lot of possibilities, but I don't think him taking over the role of Bond is the right idea. & I would feel the same way if he was white.

This is simply an extension of the film/tv media's desire to reboot/remake rather than create something new in the hopes of appealing to people with the most minimal requried effort. Comics have done this in the past, race/sex swapping characters for the sake of trying to appeal to an additional demographic.

The idea of race swapping and sex swapping a pre-established character has always been motivated by this idea of the least possible effort to make the appearance that they are actually trying something new. It's easy to simply swap the race/sex of a character or to deviate from the original author's intentions - it's difficult for them to actually create a new character or to find a role that would be suited to the actor/actress.

If they really want to make a spy film with Idris Elba as the hero, then they should actually put in the effort and make a new character rather than using the race/sex swap gimmick to try and get people to watch the film.

Heck, why not do a big budget Luther movie? It's the main reason people are thinking of him playing Bond in the first place - so why not expand on something he is already good at playing and potentially extend the life of the show.

When the next Bond comes out, Elba will be 47 or 48, there is no way that's gonna happen. They won't make him sign a 10 year or 3 movies contract that will take him to 60, it's absurd.

Omari Hardwick is a bit old too, which sucks because he physically fits the bill, he's fit AF and he's really, REALLY smart (watch a few POWER cast interviews on Build or the Breakfast Club, he has well-structured opinions about the place of female actresses and African-Americans in Hollywood) but Michael B Jordan is a great actor, he's 31, he'd be 34 or 35 when they start shooting the next movie, a 10 year contract would take him to 45, that's possible. Dayo Okeniyi from Shades of Blue and the Hunger Games would be good too, but he's not as notorious. Boyega, maybe?

Hardwick would really have been my favorite pick.

I'd like to see Dan Stevens as Bond.

He was awesome in The Guest, one of my favourite movies of this decade.

Elba is a really awesome actor, but he's way too old for Bond.

Tom Hiddleston should be the next Bond.

But, I'd be okay with Luke Evans (39 - Welsh) or Jamie Dornan (36 - N. Ireland), as well.

Not a fan of the race-swap with Elba, personally. Plus, he's 45 now, so I mean he'd be at least 47-48 by the time the new Bond would come out.

Although if they do go with a race-swap, I'd like to see Daniel Kaluuya (29 - England) or even Dev Patel (28 - England) as Bond.
