There Are Reportedly Two Competing JAMES BOND 25 Screenplays In The Works

It was revealed earlier this week that Danny Boyle (28 Days Later) is currently the frontrunner to take the helm of James Bond 25 for MGM, something Deadline has now confirmed is the case. The filmmaker worked with Daniel Craig for a sketch featuring his take on 007 (and The Queen) for the London Olympics in 2012 and he has a very specific idea for where he hopes to take things next.
According to the trade, he and Trainspotting writing partner John Hodge are working on a script which will be the version he ultimately makes if MGM approves. However, while longtime producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson liked Boyle's pitch, it's a couple of months away from being finished and it definitely sounds like a departure from what we're used to seeing this franchise deliver.
However, as of right now, MGM has a completed script by Casino Royale, Skyfall, and Spectre scribes Neal Purvis and Robert Wade, a version which Boyle would not direct. However, Yann Demange ('71), Denis Villeneuve (Blade Runner 2049), and David Mackenzie (Hell or High Water) remain on the shortlist for that one. Who will end up behind the camera and while Bond will we get? Time will tell...
