The gun-fu master himself, John Wick, returns to theaters on March 24th and wants to make use of that time to amp up the action to previously unheard-of proportions. Given that the previous films have already had nightclub shootouts, knife-throwing extravaganzas, ninjas on motorbikes, and Halle Berry battling alongside two vicious canines, John Wick 4 is shaping up to be something absolutely strange.
Keanu Reeves himself had to say, "John Wick: Chapter 4 has the most action of any of the [John Wick] films, which is saying a lot... And it's more by a good margin. It's a big show."
Each movie in the series has gotten longer since the 2014 release of the first John Wick. That movie runs for 101 minutes. A 122-minute second film, which served as the series' international premiere, was followed by a 131-minute third film. The next film in the John Wick saga will add an additional half an hour to the previous film's run time and clock in at 169 minutes (2 hours and 49 minutes).
A near-dead Wick swears to get revenge on The High Table for their vile attempt to kill him in John Wick: Chapter 4, which picks up where the previous film left off. Following what seemed to be a betrayal by Winston and the Continental, Wick is now totally immersed in his retribution. His chances of achieving freedom are jeopardized by a new adversary with global ties and erstwhile allies who have turned unfriendly.
In addition to Reeves, the upcoming film will also include Ian McShane, Lance Reddick, and Laurence Fishburne from The Bowery King (Winston Scott). Wick's character Caine will now have to contend with Donnie Yen, a renowned martial arts actor best recognized for his roles in Ip Man and Rogue One. Actors Bill Skarsgard portrays Marquis, Hiroyuki Sanada portrays Shimazu, and singer-songwriter Shamier Anderson portrays Tracker. Akira is portrayed by Rina Sawayama, Killa by Scott Adkins, The Harbinger by Clancy Brown, Chidi by Marko Zaror, and Katia by Natalia Tena. All of them join the cast.
The director of the first three films, former stuntman Chad Stahelski, will also be back for the follow-up. Stahelski's career as a director has been considerably aided by the franchise's popularity. Stahelski is now involved in the acclaimed 2020 action-adventure game Ghost of Tsushima's film adaptation.
