British tabloid The Sun has learned that filming on The Batman Part II was halted last month after an unnamed cast member was "run over" by the Batmobile.
Set footage showed the Caped Crusader clashing with members of the Gotham City Police Department while driving his signature mode of transport, so it's possible that one of those actors was caught in the crossfire. Fortunately, whoever it is is not seriously injured, and the individual in question did not "deny their involvement" when contacted, according to the report.
A source told the newspaper, "The Batman films are known for their ambitious scenes, but this one went horribly wrong, and a cast member ended up being hurt. People working on the set said the Batmobile had run someone over. Filming was stopped after the accident."
"These kinds of action films always come with some level of risk, and this accident served as a reminder of that," they added. "Luckily the person who was hurt received treatment at the hospital and is now recovering at home."
Filming has since resumed at Leavesden Studios in Hertfordshire, England, albeit without Matt Reeves at the helm. It was recently confirmed that, due to undisclosed personal issues, Steven Soderbergh is stepping in to film the remaining third or so of The Batman sequel.
Reeves intends to be involved with the post-production process, though it's unclear what all this means for the movie and how different it could feel with two filmmakers having helmed scenes. However, Reeves has made it clear that he is not leaving The Batman Part II.
"I am so happy he's come on to help Matt," Robert Pattinson recently said of Soderbergh's contributions. "It's incredibly generous of him – and he's doing it in the loveliest way. It's completely selfless."
"I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we're almost done," he continued. "So for someone to come in and say, 'I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.' And to have someone who's as talented as Steven doing it is great."
Directed by Matt Reeves and Steven Soderbergh from a script by him and Mattson Tomlin, The Batman Part II stars Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Colin Farrell, Andy Serkis, Jeffrey Wright, Charles Dance, Jayme Lawson, Gil Perez-Abraham, Sebastian Koch, and Brian Tyree Henry.
The Batman Part II is set to be released in theaters on February 18, 2028.
