Some major spoilers for The Batman - Part II surfaced from an unlikely source - the makeup team behind Heidi Klum's latest Halloween costume - on Monday, and fans have been debating several plot and character details that now appear to have been confirmed, along with a couple of new reveals that raise even more questions about the long-awaited sequel.
If you haven't been keeping up with the rumors, major spoilers follow.
The biggest talking point is arguably confirmation of the rumor that Brian Tyree Henry, not Sebastian Stan, is playing Harvey Dent, aka Two-Face.
A mold of the Eternals actor's face features rather gruesome-looking scarring around the mouth. Though the rest of the left side appears to be unscathed, this take on the Batman villain would be in keeping with the more "grounded" aesthetic of Reeves' BatVerse.
There is also a contained marked "Zsasz," and if Henry is playing Dent, we can probably assume the rumor that Stan is actually playing twisted serial killer Victor Zsasz is also accurate.
It remains to be seen how Zsasz will factor into the story, but there's some speculation that the highly skilled murderer may be employed as an assassin. Talon, perhaps?
Though this was never really in much doubt after what we've seen from various set photos, the shadowy, sinister organization known as the Court of Owls has also been confirmed to debut in the movie.
There also seems to be a mold of Irish actor Peter McDonald (I Went Down), who plays corrupt GCPD pffocer Willian Kenzie. One side of this mold is even more scarred-up than Henry's, which could indicate that both Kenzie and Dent will be victims of the same attacker, possibly Zsasz.
In addition, there are several other mysterious molds, one of which looks like it might be of Charles Dance's face. The Game of Thrones alum's role has yet to be confirmed, but the veteran actor was spotted in the back of an ambulance being pursued by Robert Pattinson's Dark Knight in a recent set video, leading to theories that he may be playing a high-ranking member of the Court of Owls.
There have also been rumors that Dance could be playing Scarlett Johansson's character's father.
Johansson's name doesn't appear on any of the molds or props, so we're still in the dark about her role, though it's probably safe to assume that initial reports that she had been cast as Sebastian Stan's character's wife were not accurate.
Production recently resumed on The Batman 2, with Steven Soderbergh stepping behind the camera to finish principal photography after Reeves was forced to leave the set to deal with an ongoing family matter.
"Just to be clear, I am not leaving The Batman Part II," Reeves clarified on social media after the news broke. "I am profoundly grateful to Steven for coming to my aid during this challenging time to help me finish principal photography. Thank you to all for your concern and well wishes."
Robert Pattinson has shared his thoughts on Soderbergh stepping in to help finish the film.
"I am so happy he's come on to help Matt," the Primetime star told GamesRadar. "It's incredibly generous of him – and he's doing it in the loveliest way. It's completely selfless."
"I think Matt had put so much work into the script, and we're almost done," Pattinson continued. "So for someone to come in and say, 'I just want to help Matt do it; I want to do it in conjunction with him and just get it to the edit.' And to have someone who's as talented as Steven doing it is great."
Pattinson also confirmed that cameras are rolling again. "I think they're in production already. And I'm starting in a couple of days."
DC Studios previously revealed that Soderbergh was the one who approached Reeves with the offer of help. Reeves is believed to have completed around two-thirds of the film, so the Ocean's Eleven director does still have a bit of work ahead of him.
The Batman - Part II is set to hit theaters on February 18, 2028.
